You needed a wee.
Standing in front of the towering gate, the trees whipping in the wind all around you and your clothes flapping against your body, all you could think about was how much you needed to go to the toilet. It felt like you were going to explode.
You didn't really. You'd only gone twenty minutes ago. But you always felt like you needed to when you got scared. And you were scared now. So, so scared.
It was a stupid idea, you knew. You never should have agreed. But you couldn't back down; you'd have looked a complete idiot. And Tony would have told everyone - you'd have been the laughing stock of the school.
So here you are. Standing in front of Huntsham Chase manor. The one place that no kid ever goes near. That no-one goes near. You'd been told about the curse since you were little. About the murders. About the way the whole family died in there. How it could never be sold. How it had been sitting there for almost forty years, empty and decaying.
Every town has a haunted house story, you tell yourself. But not every town has one that people take seriously, your mind whispers back at you treacherously. A haunted house that even your mum - your solid sensible mum who always wears suits and never stops working - has told you to never, never go near.
The iron gate in front of lets out a sudden piercing screech as it is forced open a little more by the strong wind. You jump, then chuckle nervously to yourself. Just the wind.
You can barely make out the manor house, just poking up above the massive wall that surrounds the gardens. It looks black against the sky.
You take a deep breath. All you need to do is get in there, then take something to show you have. That would shut Tony up. You try not to think about the curse. About the fact that every single person who has gone into that house has disappeared. Never heard of again. Just a story, you tell yourself again.
You step forward and ease your way through the gates which are hanging ajar. Rust speckles the dark iron and weeds are poking out of the cracks in the paving stones. You can see the path that winds up to the house, lined on either side by trees. You take a step forward.
Clang! You whirl round. The gates behind you have slammed shut. Panicked, you wrench at them, but they refuse to move, almost like they were welded shut. You scan around you frantically...you're trapped!
You have no choice but to explore Huntsham Manor, this haunted mansion, and try to find your way out!
[[Walk into the garden.->Pond]]You turn away from pulling futilely at the iron gates of the manor's grounds. Trapped. Your breath speeds up at the thought, and your hands clench into fists. //It's ok//, you tell yourself. //Just got to find another way out. Easy. //
You look around you at the massive front garden that surrounds the manor house, but even as you look your vision seems to swim as a thick mist rises from the ground. You could have sworn it was a clear day just a minute ago, but now you can barely see at all. You wave your hands in front of you and the mist clings to them, trailing away behind like some terrible spider's web.
The mist obscures almost everything. You take a few steps forward and can make out a pond a little way ahead of you. Well, you call it a pond because it is in a garden, but it's almost large enough to be called a lake. The water is dark and oily. A stone path curves away to the right, an overgrown track to the left, both disappearing into the mist. Finally, a frail looking bridge stetches out over the water. Which path do you take?
[[Follow the stone path to the right.->Stables]]
[[Follow the track to the left.->Playground]]
[[Try to cross the bridge.->Evil Gnomes]]
You reach what looks like a children's play area. A slide the colour of blood stands before you, and on top of the slide a horse - a horse of bones: only bones. No skin, no, nothing but bones. The ears of the horse are flattened backwards, the head bowing and threating to kick.
You feel the earth shaking as the horse runs towards you. Time seems to freeze as you feel the hair on your neck rising at the same time as someone whispers in your ear, making it tingle, “I know you can hear me. I can see you; I can smell you. The smell of a human, how gross. I came here to play Old Friend.”
The horse trots towards you. You’re shaking, you’re frightened; the horse glances at you with its devil’s eyes: you feel the power of it, the devilish eyes going right through you. It’s so close!
You close your eyes without knowing, squeezing them shut in fear, and opening them again. Turning around you see the horse: the horse went right through you. //A ghost//, you think to yourself.
The moon light shines on the playground, a shadow appearing. A little girl. A terrible cry rings out. “YOU WILL PLAY WITH ME NOW OR YOU WON’T SEE THE SUNLIGHT AGAIN! Not like the sun ever shines here anyway.”
Suddenly, you are standing in the middle of the playground but it is different, it’s newer: the slide is shining red, not blood red, but shiny red. A young woman is holding a child, a baby, nearby; the woman has silky hair, silky blond hair, with skin as white as snow and lips colored in roses. At the same time a kid is sitting on a swing, a swing made of roses, made of the finest gold. Such a happy family.
The father came towards the young woman. “Dear, I made dinner for you.” With a sudden leap forward, the father grabbed the young woman`s hair. Sudden pain in her eyes; tears made of pure blood coming out of her eyes, as he dragged her to the rose swing. The baby fell on the floor and the kid on the rose swing ran to the baby, the baby vomiting blood, and crying and crying. The whole world must have heard the baby crying.
The kid holds the baby close. “Mommy, help the baby's bleeding!”
At last the baby stopped crying, the kid looking down, horrified. The baby was dead, the crying ended with the baby's death.
The father went towards the kid. You feel his hand on your shoulder. The kid is running towards the swing, and you see the young woman sitting on the swing, with a knife through her heart. You feel it: you feel the knife stabbing you, the sharp blade opening up your skin. The kid cries, crying her whole heart out.
Something whispering in your ear. “And there she was. Left alone.” As the shadows surround you, the darkness itself has come to life. The whispering came again. “My past is your future.”
Now choose: choose carefully and wisely.
[[Head forward and slightly left. ->Hedge Maze]]
[[Head right and a little back.->Evil Gnomes]]
You come to a large, dilapidated building. Large double doors hang open, half rotted. There is the lingering scent of horses and old manure. A stables.
As you enter the stables there is no light.
You look around for a way to get some lights.
You see a light switch and flip it.
It takes a few seconds to start but after 20 seconds the lights come on.
You jump back, seeing the skeletons of dead horses hanging from the roof. The rusty hooks have impaled straight through the old fragile horse bones.
It looks like they can fall any minute…
You jump as you hear a horse neigh in the stables…
But there aren't any left, all dead or impaled by hooks…
You see a horse with the flesh still intact, the smell of rotten meat and rusty metal wafts towards you.
A piece of the stomach has been ripped out. It smells like every fish market but 10
times worse.
Feeling disgusted you speed walk out of the stables and when you get out…
You hear another horse neigh.
Finding a way out where do you go?
- [[Go right.->Well]]
- [[Go left.->Lonely Tree]]
You are at the entrance of the garden now. It feels... unsettling. To your left, you see a garden gnome with a pointy red hat.
Is it looking at you? It’s not.
Or is it? No.
It’s not alive or anything.
You close your eyes and take a deep, slow breath to calm down and regain your sanity. But when you open them again, the gnome is gone! You look around quickly. There is no one there. You start to panic.
You start to hear quick footsteps in the distance... and they’re getting closer.
Louder and louder.
You hear a loud psychopathic chuckle. “HEEE HE HE!”. “We can see you,” someone whispers in your ear. You can feel the goosebumps on your neck as you turn around, slowly, and see the gnome on your shoulder, holding a kitchen knife.
[[Punch the gnome.->Evil Gnome Punch]]
[[Run away.->Pond]]Before you even realise, you find yourself stepping into a maze. The hedge walls seem to have appeared from thin air. The tall hedges with small drops of blood on them rustle in the wind. You slowly turn the corner, carefully putting one foot in front of the other, not to step on the bones scattered across the ground. You can still hear the cackling laugh of the children from the playground and all you want to do is escape. You step forward and your foot crushes the squirming cockroaches running around the piles of flesh with a sickening squelch.
You can now choose to go left or right, what are you going to do?
[[Go Left.->Hedge Left]]
[[Go right.->Maze Right]]
Neither. Mazes are creepy enough when they're not in the grounds of a haunted house. [[Back to the pond.->Pond]]Petrified, you manage to glance over at the new location; the tree, though you can still hear the faint whispers of horses screaming in terror.
The tree in front of you is enormous with a countless number of massive, crooked branches sticking out in every direction within reach. Every step you take in any direction makes an awfully loud crackling sound, due to the dead leaves, branches, body parts, flowers, bones and knuckles, which extend as far as your eyes can see; only God knows how many layers there are. Only now do you realize that what first appeared to you as fields and lands, are actually just ground or layers of the bones and twigs corresponding to what you find yourself standing on top of at this very moment.
You become aware of a light breeze with a howling sound, strangely making the temperature drop drastically. You can feel the breeze becoming heavier and heavier, colder and colder, to the point where you don’t know if you are still standing on the ground or if the wind has become too powerful, because you can’t feel your legs because the temperature has become so cold. With your hand trying to shield your face from the wind, trying to keep your eyes open, you peek to see if there is any place where you can seek shelter. There is not, except behind the tree. You force every muscle in your body to move yourself in the direction of the tree. You realize that the branches of the tree are not moving, not even a little bit, not even at all; though the breeze which escalated to almost a storm is rushing heavily where you are.
While trying to maintain your balance, you look over at the tree, noticing its details. Such as how the cracks in the rotten bole makes it appear as though the bole was built upon people, still like statues, looking like it was their last moment before their death; people screaming in terror and people crying.
You find yourself closer to the tree than you thought you were. You notice that the storm has finally passed, and you can therefore finally relax your shoulders. But not for long.
[[Take a deep breath.->Tree Breath]]
[[Take a step forwards.->Tree Root]]You walk into an even darker area of the garden, the only thing that you can make out is a well.
Or rather what seems to be a well. At least there is nothing dangerous about a well.
You see the bricks the well is built up by, they seem very polished and nice, almost like scales. It must have been //well// (PUN INTENDED) taken care of, you think to yourself. You hear the wind roaring in some of the trees almost like a ghost wandering through the property. You get a chill up your spine and you can feel the hair on your neck raise.
Your hands start trembling.
You are really stressed; you know you should not have gone to this place. There is definitely something wrong with this place. You walk closer, and every step you take feels so heavy you hear sticks on the moist grass creaking and your stress levels begin to rise.
You feel an urge to go closer to check it out, yet it feels like it is a source of danger. Maybe you should turn and run, then at least you know what awaits you. Or do you want to try to see what the well is all about? Maybe it can save you. What do you do?
[[Turn and run back to the stables.->Well Run]]
[[Go and rest or maybe even hide by the well.->Well Snakes]]
[[Go and try to drink some water from the well to calm yourself down.->Well Water]]
You punch the gnome in the face, sending it flying. You try walking towards it to finish it off.
But you can’t.
Your feet are...stuck. You look down, only to see the knife lodged in your knee. You fall down, and you see several gnomes tying you down with ropes. You can’t move. What do you do next?
[[- Try to shimmy yourself out of the ropes.->Evil Gnomes Rope]]
[[- Cut yourself free with the knife.->Evil Gnomes Massacre]]You're stuck. You desperately try to break free, but they’re holding you down.
You try screaming for help, but they’re pushing your face against the ground, making it near impossible to breathe. The taste of blood and dirt fills your mouth as you start losing the will to fight back. There are voices echoing around your head “HEEE HE HE”. The gnomes get their knives and finish you.
Slowly.
[[YOU DIED.->Dead]]You struggle, and manage to grab the knife that’s stuck in your knee. It was only a little way in, but it is still excruciatingly painful as you pull it free. You cut yourself loose, and start massacring the gnomes one by one.
It was their turn to run.
But they can’t.
Blood splatters all over the garden, dyeing the grass red. You feel sick, and swallow back a mouthful of vomit. You finish them all off, and you’re finally free.
[[- Continue onwards.->Shed]]
A small wooden building looms ahead of you. As you approach this creepy disturbing shed surrounded with dark mist, there are long spiky vines growing all around, climbing the old walls. You see a small light coming from the inside of the broken pieces of cracked wood.
[[Walk away->Shed ghost]]
[[Try and see what's inside.->Shed attempt]]You failed.
Your lifeless body will become one more terrifying sight in Huntsham Manor. Perhaps another will find your body, years from now, and spare a thought for your horrible end. Or perhaps not.
[[Do you try again?->A Dare Too Far]]You run back to the stable and yet again you can hear the screaming souls of the passed horses.
[[You continue down the other path.->Lonely Tree]]You sit down by the well, which is quite calming compared to everything else. You feel almost comfortable there. You lean you back towards the well. You sit there for a while. Then you begin feeling that the well is making small movements, almost turning.
You turn yourself around and realise the well is made up of scales: snake scales. Its wall is built up by hundreds of snakes wrapping tightly around the well. Then, before you can react the snakes begin wrapping themselves around your neck and choking you. They break your ribcage and your collarbone; you try to scream but your vocal cords are ripped out of you. You bleed so much that you wonder whether you will die of your injuries or by bleeding to death first. The last thing you can see before you slowly die in pain is that the wall of the well, underneath the snakes, is built from human skulls.
[[You died.->Dead]]
You walk up to the well to get some water and realise how deep the well actually is: it is like standing on top of a skyscraper. It must have been a hundred metres down at least; well, you guess because you cannot see the bottom. You try to crank up the bucket from the bottom. After a while of standing there, trying to get it up and listening to the roaring wind, you finally get the bucket up. You see that there is water in the bucket. As you grab the bucket to try to drink the water something grabs you. A tentacle as thick as your torso explodes from the well and wraps around you. You are pulled down into the abyss; swallowed by darkness.
[[You died.->Dead]]
You turn left this time, walking towards a flickering light you see the leaves are not leaves.
Instead, thousands of small arms and hands reach out of the plant following your every move. You feel your heart almost jump out of you as the bony fingers scrape against your delicate skin. Behind you two wild dogs, pound their way towards you, just as you start to near a dead end. You can’t turn around now or else you might get eaten alive from the flesh-eating monsters pounding their way towards you. As the wild dogs near, you begin to see blood dripping out of their mouths along with flesh from past victims. You start sprinting through the hedges, the sharp fingernails of the hands dig into your skin. You feel them grab your skin, pulling you down, slowing you down. You quickly glance back and see the dogs’ flesh being ripped apart leaving two piles scattered across the ground. Squirming your way out of the hedges, you see two paths, one leading to a distant gazebo and the other to some styled hedges.
It’s your choice now, don’t mess it up.
[[Go to the hedges.->Hedge Statues]]
[[Head towards the gazebo.->Gazebo]]You turn right this time; walking towards a flickering light you see the leaves are not leaves.
Instead, thousands of small arms and hands reach out of the plant following your every move. The arms grab you, engulf you, surround you and then before you wild dogs with teeth sharper than knifes, arms stronger than a giant and claws which could tear you apart in one go appear. You try to get out of the grip of the plants’ arms, but you can’t!
The dogs pound their way towards you. The wild beasts grab your leg, and you yell out in pain, screaming at the top of your lungs, the dogs becoming more and more aggressive.
Biting you and cutting you, you begin to feel lightheaded, the world around you continues to move, to move faster than ever until one moment, it stops. The arms of the plants which held your skin tight let go; the wild beasts which tore you apart stop; your heart which was pounding with terror, stops. You are gone.
[[You died.->Dead]]
Around you, hedges of all shapes stand straight in a line facing the house. You suddenly get this feeling of relief rushing through you. Nothing is moving and nothing is happening. You continue walking to the maze, past the figures which crane over you. Some looking like people with glass eyes and wooden legs, others are of children with their childish smiles and devilish eyes, but none of these were as bad as the statues of animals, maybe old pets with front teeth which could easily eat you alive. Trying not to look at these ‘figures’ made of the thorniest of hedges, you find yourself, with your back against them, walking away with a smile on.
All of a sudden you hear the leaves rustle, at first you think it was just wind, but you don’t even feel the slightest breeze run over your skin.
Quickly you turn back and see the devilish figures have turned to face you, some seemed to be closer than before. You continue to walk, becoming faster and faster as the rustling of the leaves becomes louder and louder.
You have a choice though, to turn around and see what is behind you - there might not be anything there - or to just run forward to the maze which you can just see ahead - will you make it there in time though? It’s your choice.
[[Turn around.->Hedge Statues Turn Around]]
[[Run to the maze.->Hedge Maze]]Just before you turn around, sharp thorns caress your back. Startled, you jump around: all the rustling had stopped, and nothing was there, nothing was moving.
The hedged figures have all changed positions: some have picked up old tools lying on the ground; their facial expressions have changed into something which makes you feel as if you need to throw up. Feeling completely taunted, you continue to go backwards to see if you missed something. You did not though. The hedges had circled you and as soon as you turned your back to one of them, they would do something new.
A huge shadow came closer to you and closer, its arms extended, its long nails and hair which is completely outgrown stretched around you like a snake attacking its prey. The thorny branches dig into your skin as you squirm your way free. Completely shocked, you sprint to the entrance of the maze and when you look back all the shaped hedges are back in a straight line.
[[At least you made it back.->Back to the maze]]Too scared to look back, you sprint to the entrance of the maze. The wind picks up as your breathing becomes heavier and heavier but when you enter the maze the wind stops - everything stops but you. [[You’re back at the start of the maze.->Hedge Maze]]Whilst you inhale some of the “windless” air, you feel a cold over you again. You open your eyes to see that the branches of the tree have moved. Not in a natural way, but in a way that makes them point towards you, just as if the branches reached for you. And that is exactly what they did within a second of having that thought.
[[You're caught!->Grabbed by tree]]You turn to run, but are far too slow. The branches wrap around you. One squeezes your waist, the other curls around your throat. As your vision begins to dim, you hear something crack, and then everything goes numb.
[[You died.->Dead]]Two thick branches curl around you, cutting into your tender flesh. You struggle, wrenching yourself from side to side, and miraculously manage to wriggle free. You fall a meter or so to the ground, only to find another set of branches reaching for you! What do you do?
[[Run away.->Tree Run]]
[[Dodge the branches.->Tree Dodge]]The only method that seems to be working for you to not die, seems to be to stay in conflict with the movements of the tree. Move against it. Fight back.
You try to avoid the branches shooting towards you. At one point, you are hanging upside down, by the foot, above the hollow, steep, dark, bottomless, hole. You struggle frantically, even sinking your teeth into the bark of the tree. The branches recoil, flinging you away.
You land with a thump, far out of the trees range. You stagger to your feet, heart pounding in your ears. The tree behind you is completely still, now.
Two paths lay ahead. One is lined with flowers, the other has a small garden gnome positioned as though watching the path. Which do you take?
[[The flowery path.->Flowers]]
[[The path with the gnome.->Evil Gnomes]]You feel a thick, cold, root wrapping around your foot. With the rest of your body almost paralyzed in terror, you managed to remove your foot right before the root pulled towards itself at what looked like 1000km/h. It looks like this only made whatever spirit possesses this tree even more mad, which is why the branches reach for you. However, now they manage to get a hold of your body.
[[You're caught!->Grabbed by tree]]You have reached the flower garden.
A garden with grass coloured in death, and flowers as lifeless as your soul. The flowers seem to move as you approach, angling towards you. Their petals split open into a mouth; a mouth taken from some terrible beast. Tongues split in two emerge from each flower, sampling the air. A stench of rotten flesh and spoiled eggs and dead creatures pervades the air.
You recoil, but even as you move some of the flowers suddenly explode outwards. Instead of pollen, ants are thrown into the air. They land close to you and immediately swell until they are almost as large as your hand, their mandibles clicking angrily.
Another set of flowers explode, and this time spiders are launched into the air. Tiny spiders, moving so fast that a number land on your face before you can get away. The feeling of the small legs sticking inside your mouth is like small knifes. You throw up the spiders, retching and scraping at the inside of your mouth, running as fast as you can past the flowers.
[[Something looms in the distance.->Greenhouse]]
You walk slowly towards the gazebo.
Your legs are still shaking uncontrollably, but you are not scared. You have already been through so much, enough to give you nightmares for the rest of your life, so it is quite refreshing to see a normal-looking gazebo, standing innocently in the garden, about 100 meters from the house, though the path is sealed off by a rusted gate, covered in thorns.
As you keep moving forward, the gazebo comes into view, the details no longer blurry. You are able to see the rough, aged redwood floorboards, and the scraps of paint peeled from the sides. But you also notice something peculiar; rats scurrying across the floor, converging onto what seems like a fountain, spewing out rats instead of water. There is a mild, soft glow in the center of the waterfall. You realize it is not redwood, but regular wood, covered in blood.
You walk up the steps, which release louder screeches with every step.
By now you can see the rather big pentagon in the center of the gazebo. On three of the corners are short poles with keyholes. Out of curiosity, you walk slowly, circling around the edge of the pentagon inspecting the keyholes. One seems very different to you than the other ones, so you stop for a while to examine it closer. As you peek into the hole and start to realize that it has a bigger, more circular opening, some cold liquid squirts onto your leg.
As you look down, you realize that this liquid is blood, and when you quickly look up to see a rat getting eaten alive by its accomplices. As a few more squirts of blood and some guts hit your leg, you have a choice:
[[Turn around and run to try to find the exit->Gazebo run]]
[[Try to examine the rat to find clues to move on.->Gazebo rat]]
You decide to walk away, but as you are walking away you hear a faint scream coming from afar. Suddenly you feel something grab your wrist tightly: you look towards what is grabbing your wrist but there is nothing; it is as if it is ghosts or dead spirits haunting you. Then, you somehow manage to free the grasp of this hand grabbing you: you frantically run towards the shed and quickly crawl into a hole that leads inside the small building. You quickly look behind and you see a little ghost girl just standing there staring towards you, her eyes imploring.
[[You find yourself inside the shed.->Inside Shed]]The moment you crawl into the shed you can just feel as if something is going to happen; there is a strong smell as if something has died there, something rotten. Suddenly you see a small box next to a lit candle-light. As you are approaching this small mysterious box and are about to open it you take a look around the shed. You see weapons and tools such as a hammer, a chain saw and axes with blood stains all over them.
Inside the shed you suddenly hear screaming from outside “HELP” and whispers all around you. It feels like there is something constantly staring at you, but you wouldn't know because it’s so dark and the only light source is the candle. You then decide to open the small box next to the little candle.
Once you open the box, immediately the candle blows out and a strong gust of wind rushes through the air and bloodthirsty bats with red beady eyes fly out of nowhere. As they are flying and squealing around you you can feel some of their sharp claws scratching and clawing onto your skin; suddenly you can feel a whole lot of bugs crawling onto your body, the bugs and the bats are all over you, biting you and scratching you.
You then run, slapping at yourself and trying not to scream in case the bugs get into your mouth. You scramble down the small hole out of the shed: you never got the opportunity to take a look at what is inside or even grab the small box. You desperately want to go back and get the box, as you look down to your body you see your own blood all over your arms from all the
scratches and bites.
You waver, unsure what to do, but then you can feel something grab onto your arms and legs, you struggle and scream for help. Again, you somehow manage to escape the ghosts' grasp. You run and you run: away from the shed but still feeling the pain and hearing the whispers all around you, in the distance you spot some hedges leading to something unimaginable...
[[On to the hedges.->Hedge Statues]]You decide to go closer towards the shed. You can just feel the cold dark tension around you, it feels like there is something glaring at you from afar but you keep going. As you arrive at the front door of the shed you try to open it but it is locked. The wood rattles in the frame. You take a look around and see a hole through the wall. It's not big but it is enough to get yourself into the shed.
[[Climb inside.->Inside Shed]]You walk into the greenhouse, the floorboards are old and creak on every step you take. You are surprised to see that there are no plants growing in the greenhouse... but there are humans being grown. You almost throw up. Massive pots line each side of the greenhouse, and from each is sprouting a human body, waxy and unfinished. You step forward as the floor creaks, you look closer, and the bodies look familiar. You look even closer. It is Adolf Hitler! You were creeped out by the fact that clones were being grown and they were none other than Adolf Hitler himself! You figure that there has to be some type of guard for these clones when they are trying to clone Adolf Hitler.
As you inspect the bodies, you find a loose floorboard, so you decide to inspect it. You lift up the floorboard and are surprised to find there is an underground tunnel... a bunker of sorts. It’s dark. You walk down the stairs to the underground bunker with caution: it’s so dark. You make your way down then you see a ray of light down a hallway. It looks like a flashlight.
[[Investigate the ray of light->Greenhouse Light]]
[[Find a different way.->Greenhouse Different Way]]You investigate the ray of light down the hallway, and as the light comes closer and closer, you become more and more scared. You stand still for a moment and suddenly gunshots ring out, coming your way. You get hit as you try to run.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You find two different ways along the underground corridor. There is a room to your right and a hallway to the left. You see a door at the end of the hallway and the room looks like some type of storage room.
[[Go left.->Greenhouse Left]]
[[Go right.->Greenhouse Right]]You walk down the hallway; your legs are shivering. You feel cold so you cross your arms as you walk down the hallway. You are at the door, there is a window. As you look through the window, your eyes widen: the room looks like a dungeon, or a torture chamber of some kind. You try to open the door to the dungeon; it’s locked. You turn around and there’s a Nazi pointing a gun to your head. He opens the door to the dungeon as you scream and you die a very unpleasent death.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You walk into the room to your right. You find that there are guns stored in this storage room. You see the light you saw earlier coming down the hallway; you panic as you try to hide. You see some wooden boxes to your left and you hide behind the old looking boxes. There are a lot of webs and spiders behind the old boxes; you try to keep your cool as a big black spider with a red dot on its back climbs on your shoulder. The light disappears back to where the clone bodies were. You breathe a sigh of relief and walk down the hallway till you find a staircase.
The staircase is blocked by some kind of grate. It looks like an old-fashioned portcullis, and there's no way through. In the very centre of the grate is a sign, and there are four labelled levers underneath. The sign reads: "The Third Reich shall reign forever! To prove your loyalty to the Führer, name the ''First'' Reich."
There are four levers. Each one has a different label. Which one do you pull?
[[The lever labelled "Charlemagne's Frankish Empire"->Lever 1]]
[[The lever labelled "The Kingdom of Prussia"->Lever 3]]
[[The lever labelled "The Holy Roman Empire"->Lever 2]]
[[The Lever labelled "The Rhine Confederation"->Lever death]]
None. You've seen too many computer games where pulling a lever didn't end well. [[You go back to the Greenhouse, hopefully avoiding any Nazi guards.->Greenhouse return]]There is a grinding noise that makes you wince and look around in fear. You wait, holding your breath, and... Nothing happens.
Do you pull a different lever?
[[The lever labelled "The Kingdom of Prussia"->Lever 3]]
[[The lever labelled "The Holy Roman Empire"->Lever 2]]
[[The Lever labelled "The Rhine Confederation"->Lever death]]
Nope. You've seen too many computer games where pulling a lever twice didn't end well. [[You go back to the Greenhouse, hopefully avoiding any Nazi guards.->Greenhouse return]]
You pull the lever. There is a horrible grinding noise as the grate begins to rise. You knew I and S would be useful someday!
You scamper under the grate as it rises and quickly climb the staircase. [[You emerge into the back garden.->Back Garden Start]]You pull the lever. There is a horrible grinding sound. You wince, thinking of the guard you saw, and glance around to make sure no one heard.
It is probably a good thing you turned your head, as you didn't see the spike that shot through the portcullis and impaled you through the neck.
You did feel it though.
[[You have died.->Dead]]//Not going to risk it//, you think to yourself. //I'd rather face Nazis than pull a lever//. Something doesn't seem quite right there, but you've made up your mind and head back along the corridor.
Strangely, you find no sign off Nazis at all. In fact the tunnel now seems empty - where there was concrete there is now just damp soil. As you push your way back into the greenhouse it has also changed. No more Hitlers, just row upon row of dead and dying plants, with a few rusty tools scattered about.
You have no idea what is going on, but you want out of here as quickly as possible. [[You see a small building in the distance, and head towards that.->Shed]]You pull the lever. There is a sad little honking noise. Nothing else happens. Do you try another lever?
[[The lever labelled "Charlemagne's Frankish Empire"->Lever 1]]
[[The lever labelled "The Holy Roman Empire"->Lever 2]]
[[The Lever labelled "The Rhine Confederation"->Lever death]]
None. You've seen too many computer games where pulling a lever more than once didn't end well. [[You go back to the Greenhouse, hopefully avoiding any Nazi guards.->Greenhouse return]]Moonlight filters through the trees of the back garden. When did that happen? You could have sworn it had only been an hour or two since the gates clanged shut behind you and sealed you inside Huntsham Manor.
The way ahead of is you blocked with a series of bushes, just high enough that you can’t see over the top. A path, once stone but now so overgrown with weeds and grass that only a few glimpses of grey can be seen, curves away to the left and to the right.
To the right you can just make out the start of the towering wall that you know encloses the gardens of the manor. Maybe there’d be some way to climb over?
To the left you see a large tree some way along the path. Something dangles from one of the branches.
Do you…
[[Go left?->Tire swing]]
[[Or go right?->Wall]]Having had enough of all these terrifying encounters, you dash back towards the maze. After some wandering, you're already quite used to the attractions it can offer so you make it back out. High on adrenaline, you manage to get back through the play area, [[and end up back at the pond.->Pond]]As you walk towards the massacre, all the rats flee. Some crawl into your baggy pants and bite your leg. They make weird splashing and cracking noises when you smack them. When you get to the half eaten rat, you notice it is still moving.
The veins throb and you can see part of the rat's brain through its eye socket. It squirms and shrieks in pain, so you decide to execute it to spare it the pain. You raise your foot about a foot off the ground, and with one brutal stomp and splash, you send pieces of its brain and skull flying onto the walls of the gazebo. As you position your foot on the ground, you see a smoothie of blood and guts seep from beneath the soles of your shoes.
As you look in terror at the mutilated remains of a rat, a small box opens at the center of the gazebo, In it are three keys, which you pick up and put into the keyholes. The structure of the gazebo groans as the gears underneath it rotate loudly, as a tunnel opens up, going under the hedge and into what looks to be the ground floor of the house.
It all makes sense now; the pentagon was for satanic rituals, and the rat was your sacrifice.
[[You walk through the tunnel, finding yourself somehow inside Huntsham Manor, on the ground floor.->Ground Floor Start]]After climbing up the uneven tunnel, and opening a heavy oak door, you set a foot inside Huntsham Manor. You feel the thick bolts pushing against your back and turning forcing you inside, closing right behind you.
You wait a few seconds catching your breath after the shock you just went through. A deadly stench rises up your nostrils. A drop of moist //something// just dripped onto your head. Slowly lifting up your head towards what’s above you, you hesitate - do you even want to know?
That’s when you see the gigantic crystal chandelier hanging above you. With decapitated heads hung upside down with ropes. All moist and rotten and disgusting to the point where you nearly vomit. You take a few fast paced steps in to the house.
The first glimpse you catch of the inside is a place filled with mirrors. But when you look at your reflection its starts deforming, deteriorating. Jumping back you run to the other side of this damn hall. Looking in another one of the mirrors hoping what you just saw isn’t true. At first glance you look normal. But the same repeats. This reflection shedding skin until it looks like a skull with reptile skin stretched over it, in black. Long bony hands with the same black reptile skin appear, and the rest of this creatures body. It launches forward towards you out of the mirror.
It's everywhere. Dozens of them. Naked, With sharp rotten brown teeth waiting for fresh flesh, and dripping saliva. In fear, you run, not looking. And stumble into a mirror. It shatters in an instant, showering you with glass. You close your eyes, hearing a ear shattering scream.
When you open them you see the reflection being sucked back in and all the mirrors cracking one after one. Until they all explode. After you sat on the floor calming your heartbeat you see a number of doors and passages to other rooms. Hoping you can find a way out you choose:
[[The first door on the right.->Drawing Room]]
[[The second door on the left (the first is blocked off with wooden planks nailed across it).->Ground Bathroom]]
[[To continue round the curve of the hallway.->Ruined Stairs]]The door closes behind you.
The room is dark, and very, very quiet. The unsettling silence crawls down your spine; chills run through your whole body.
You frantically scan the room to see if there is anything, or maybe anyone, waiting for you in the shadows, but all you see is a room full of old couches, broken chairs, and a wall covered in a whole crowd of paintings. But you can not make out what the paintings are, they just look very dark black. In fact, the corners of the room also look blacker than you thought at first. The deep darkness seems to be creeping up the walls. You would think your eyes would get used to the darkness, but no. It feels like your body will get swallowed by the darkness if you come too close. It will slither up your legs, surround your head and quickly and silently squeeze the life out of you.
No! You snap out of it.
You see two doors, and quickly decide to move on. There is no use staying here anyway.
The doors look very dusty, like they would fall apart if you touched them. Where would they lead?
They both look identical, and they are right next to each other. The only way to distinguish them is by one being on the right and the other on the left of each other.
Which door do you choose?
[[Left? ->Library]]
[[Or right?->Dining Hall]]You head to the bathroom. It is roughly 5 meters away from the Entry Hall. You need to catch a break, because honestly this mansion is giving you the creeps. The garden was already very hectic.
You are finally facing the bathroom door. The door handle creeks as you pull it down. You somewhat regret your choices already, but you tell yourself that if you were to die, you would gladly like to die in the bathroom. As you pull the door towards you, the door lets out a screech. You would usually be very scared of this, but this is the most fun thing you have experienced today, so you proceed to pull and push the door, multiple times. You let out a small laugh, and remember that you are in a haunted house, you slap yourself and tell yourself to focus.
You enter the bathroom and immediately realise that this is a renaissance bathroom. Ornate or baroque decoration covers every surface. You close the door and stand in awe. You stand there at the entrance and deeply analyse the bathroom.
‘This room is fantastic; I have to at least take a bath or do something in this room.’
You take a step forward and see the mirror on your left. Even the mirror makes you look good. You slowly graze your face, and appreciate yourself. You notice that your reflection is not giving of the same expression, instead your reflection stares deep into your eyes and looks at you with disgust look. You are creeped out.
However, you find yourself subconsciously slamming the mirror. You ask yourself ‘Why did I do that?’. Honestly, you do not really care anymore, because the front garden was already wildly frantic.
You look at the mirror again, and realise that the aesthetic still looks as pleasing as the first time you entered. You proceed to walk towards the bathtub: you turn on the tap, expecting ethereal water to pour down from it. Instead, hideous, disgusting, horrifying water comes out. The water is green with dead insects in it and disgusting acidic bubbles. You quickly turn the tap off, and you rush to the door.
But you hear a faint voice coming from the tap. You want to head out of this creepy building as soon as possible, but the voice reminds you of someone dear to you. You slowly turn your body until you face the bathtub. You hear the faint voice again. You really want to go but you find yourself attracted to the voice. You continue walking towards the bathtub.
Now only a few centimetres separate you and the bathtub. You notice that you did not close the tap completely and now instead of that disgusting water flowing, there are only a few drops falling; however, the number of drops per second seem to be increasing every 10th second.
The faint voice asks you “Why are you here?”.
[[Scream->Bathroom scream]]
[[Run away->Bathroom run away]]
[[Tell the voice "Shut up and let me out of here!"->Bathroom shut up]]
[[Explain how you got here->Bathroom explanation]]
[[Stay silent->Bathroom silent]] (maybe out of fear, maybe due to reasoning, maybe because your mother warned you not to talk to strangers)//Stairs, //you think//, that's progress, isn't it?//
But these stairs are not going to take you anywhere. Once this was a wide sweeping staircase. The kind of thing a princess would descend to the silent admiration of nobles and courtiers and suitors. But the stairs are broken now. Many steps are missing, the wood rotted through, and a makeshift barricade has blocked off most of the way. There is a lingering scent in the air, and when you look closely at the barricade you see red smears marring its surface.
There's no way through here. You'll have to find another way to get upstairs, if that's even where you need to go to find an exit.
You turn, and everything seems to swim for a moment, your vision wavering. When it clears the hallway behind you has changed. It now ends in a single door.
[[Not much choice, really.->Dining Hall]]You arrive at a messy room, books lying around everywhere. It’s difficult to make out the room due to the limited amount of light. Every large window is covered with heavy, velvet curtains. You search for another light source but to your dismay, you find none. You usher yourself towards the closest window, tightly grab the curtain with your fists and tug on it with all your strength. To your surprise, the entire curtain rod falls down instead. You immediately jump back and notice that the sun is about to set. You start to step forward to take watch the sun setting before following your gaze downwards. You see a shadowy figure dragging what appears to be a body. You coan clearly hear the grunts of frustration as they attempt to hurl the body into a garbage container. You can clearly see the blood slowly painting a line through the pavement floor. Hypnotised by the line being painted, you don’t notice that the line reaches a stop and the shadowy figure visibly redirects their gaze towards you. Terrified, you immediately crouch down below the window and decide to return to investigating the room.
Now the evening light allowed you to take in the room in all its glory. You were clearly in a library, made evident by the hundreds of books. Some of them are ripped, as if someone could not find a specific piece of information and lost their temper as a result of it.
Moving towards one of shelves at the end of the room, you pull at a garnet-coloured book that had caught your eye. You hear a mechanical click as you open it.
Suddenly, the book falls open on its back to a specific page in your hands. Some sort of puzzle. You have to move the book closer to your eyes to actually make out the words and then you finally realise that the sun is about to set soon! Without any other source of light, you won’t be able to solve it if you don’t hurry up! You have to figure this out quickly!
The words seem to shimmer and move in front of your eyes:

[[Or some kind of pandemic? Is it Covid?->Library wrong]]As you walk into the next room, you see a table full of plates on which there is half-finished food.
You suspect that it is the dining hall, the white calligraphy letters over the door also gave that away.
The food looks like it was just served. The soup is still warm and you can feel the smell of something exotic: the nice smell of lemongrass coming from it. There is also rice. On the other end of the table there is a chair that is turned a bit to the side. It seems as if a person, having left this feast, decided to go somewhere else.
While you´re walking and looking at all the half-finished food you notice some weird red marks here and there. When you get to the end of the table you look at the chair and you see a used serviette and some elegant black glasses with something written on them in gold, resting on the chair. You want to take a look at them, but in the same moment something warm drips on your hand. A red drop, somewhere from the cieling. But when you look up there´s nothing there. Nothing else happens, however, you notice something on the serviette. A black bug it seems. Actually, they´re everywhere. The more you look the more you see their slow crawl as they move over everything.
There are another two doors on opposite sides of the room. One is propped open and you can see a slow procession of bugs crawling through the doorway. A kitchen. The other door is closed, but a large sign of a cigar is on the upper panel.
[[Go to the kitchen.->Kitchen]]
[[Go to the other door.->Smoking room]]
Neither. This place is a maze. [[Go back to the entry hall and start over.->Ground Floor Start]]
Lost in time, the kitchen preserves the dust and the last meal.
(text-style:"italic","blurrier","sway")[Welcome to the kitchen], a light sharp voice speaks.
The voice was unbearable, like a sharp knife cutting through your skeleton. This voice could not be coming from a human body? The voice was unnatural, like the scream of nature.
Under the lifeless light bulb, you stand alone. You suddenly feel so small as an empty space standing confused in this kitchen.
(text-style:"italic","blurrier","sway")[Follow mee,
You will be with me.

Who was talking? No one of course you are alone in this room? Your friends are outside waiting for you. You are the only one here, and you are the only brave one enough to go inside this haunted mansion.
Before you walk out the room your body freeze, something is touching you. You see nothing, but you can feel the sweat flesh touching your shoulder. The sharp voice became more annoying and creepier.
(text-style:"blurrier","sway")[Be with me. ]
You refuse to get scared that easily, and you refuse to be with this creep. You glance around and see two exits, as well as the door behind you. One appears to lead into some sort of cold storage: you can see walls lined with metal through the half open door. The other door is closed, but is one of those double swing doors, so at least a quick exit would be easy.
But you are smart after all, you know what you want to do ….
[[Do you want to go through the swing doors?->Pantry]]

[[Or back the way you came?->Dining Hall]]As you open the door of the smoking room, smoke bashes into your face. Inhaling a huge amount of the smoke, you sense your vision fading away. Coughing, you start to panic as the world you see starts to fade away. You blink your eyes frantically trying to see something, anything! You slowly crouch down in despair, out of the way of the smoke, only to realize that the smoke was the main reason behind your blindness. You calm yourself down crawling into the room only to see a far worse sight. A mirror. You look around to see that most of the smoke has floated out of the room; immediately, you stand up again and rush to the mirror.
“Ugh, what’s wrong with my face?! And my hair! I am pretty sure it looked amazing when I first made it today. Ugh whatever, it’s all Tony’s fault”
After a close and detailed observation of your face and hair, you come back to reality and remember your main goal: to get out of this stupid mansion and make Tony shut up.
You look around the room trying to spot another door or just any other entry. It was a large room with several luxurious looking furniture all in exaggerated sizes. Most of the floor is covered with carpets that seems stiff with an unusual color as if it has dried from some unknown substance. You frown, looking up at the walls. Except for the mirror, there is a whole line of portraits on the wall, as you take a closer look at the portraits; it seems that everyone in the portraits has the same unnatural expression, with their eyes looking straightforward. You feel chills down your spine as if the people from the portraits were all staring at you.
You rush away to the other side of the room without looking back, afraid of what you might see. While passing the mirror, you glance over your shoulders to get one more look of yourself only to see that you were not alone. There was a shadowy figure that just went past the door of the smoking room. //There is no way for me to go out from there now//, you think to yourself while speeding up your pace to get to the end of the room.
You pass an innocuous looking door, plain varnished wood, with a picture of a book carved into the top panel.
Finally, you find a glass door on the side, though not the type of door you expected. It was a glass door with a shade of red that seems to be dried blood. You hesitate with your hand on the door handle when suddenly, you hear a weird noise behind you. The noise startles you: turning at lightning speed, you see one of the portraits now laying on the floor, but the eyes are still glaring at you. What do you do?
[[Go through the glass door covered in blood->Fireplace]]

[[Check out the fallen portrait.->Portrait]]
In this room the light is even more dim. Everything is dark. Except for a sort of fire behind a sheet right in front. Something tells you: look at the walls. Trying to analyse it with a limited ray of light you see Contours of what seems to be people. When cLose to the only source of lIght you decide to drag the sheet away and let it drop to the floor.
With at least double the aMount of light you see the walls are covered of paintings of tortured patients and naked dismemBered bodies beside rivers of blood. Together with demonic creatures peeking and looking around leaving bUrning traces. All Painted WITH such deTail and realistic appearances. Placed in a disturbingly beautiful and peaceful environment. In roof you see a few metal bars Hanging, lonely, in the middlE of this wonderful diSturbing art.
The wall on the left of the entry is covered with a curtain. PusHing the piece of fabric against thE wall and scratching and rubbing it. You fEel a firm mass, with a few peculiar bulges in Them. But this room was a dead end. There are no openings except for the fireplace. You pick up the sheet from the floor. It has a particularly soft touch but equally real feeling. Worried of what his could hid you put it in front of the light to be able to look at it. Thick, flexible, soft, white beige, alike human skin. . . alike human skin!
You drop it and a sudden blow extinguishes the light. The blaze in the fireplace disappeared like it had never been. You are terrified of what is still awaiting you in this place. The glass door behind you shuts. With such a power and speed that the dried crispy blood flew off and the glass cracked on the level of the handle. You panic. Your mind is racing and spinning at the speed of a tornado. You know, as you hear slow trampling footsteps that make your head shake, that you have to find something. Do something to get out of here. What should you do?

You head back into the centre of the room to get to the fallen portrait. A few wisps of smoke still hang in the air and you have to stifle a cough.
As you approach the picture, your steps slow, your gaze fixed. Did the eyes just move?
//The portrait is nothing special to look at//, you think as you crouch over it. Some random old person, dressed in a suit and looking out into the distance. You must have imagined the eyes moving - they're not at all.
As you stare at the picture, though, it starts to look familiar. That hair. It wasn't like that a moment ago. And the clothes, they're changing too! They look like your clothes!
You stretch out a hand, fascinated, and that's when you see it. Your hand is different. Old, lined, not your hand at all!
You open your mouth to scream, but find that it's frozen, fixed in paint. You can only stare hopelessly as the figure that ''used'' to be you moves away from the portrait.
Who knows how long it will be before someone else is foolish enough to gaze at your portrait? You can do nothing but wait and find out.
[[You have died. Or perhaps wish that you had.->Dead]]You scream loudly. The room suddenly becomes pitch dark, you cannot see anything, but as you start calming down you feel a cold breath on the back of your neck. This reminds you of when the weather was below -20 C, and you would always wear a scarf whenever you went outside. But now there is no scarf to wrap yourself with. Instead, slimy fingers wrap your head and after your whole head is covered, they squeeze tightly.
[[You have died. A pretty horrible death.->Dead]]You hear the faint voice say your name, and you can no longer move a muscle. You stand there terrified, you cannot move anything, or say anything. You start feeling very sweaty, you quickly realise that your insides feel like they are on fire, and you feel a hot liquid is slowly covering your body.
You move your eyes and realise that it is your boiling blood that is flowing out from every hole of your body. You stand there for at least an hour and realise that as blood is flowing out of your body, blood is also instantaneously being made inside of you. After 5 hours, you are drowning in your own blood, and the worst is that you still cannot move a muscle. Standing in the most beautiful bathroom you have ever witnessed, you realise that you have been cursed by this voice, to stand in this bathroom for all of eternity, drowning in your own blood.
[[You have died. Sort of.->Dead]]The faint voice says your name, angrily, and you start taking very deep breaths, growing dizzy.
You fall into the bathtub which is now full of that disgusting water you just witnessed, but now you feel that the bathtubs volume has greatly increased to the size of an ocean. You start to feel hazy, simultaneously, you feel that your limbs are going numb. It feels like a doctor has gathered all of the anaesthesia in a hospital, and has proceeded to inject it all into your body. You understand that this faint voice has cursed you, you start sinking in this never-ending sea of disgust and dead things.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You explain how you got trapped in Huntsham Manor, how you are just looking for a way out, and even explain some of the terrible things that have happened to you. The faint voice murmurs back. It is strangely easy to talk to.
Once you are done explaining, however, your breathing increases and you start feeling extremely sick. You feel something stuck in your throat and as you try to spit it out, it only just goes further down. However, when you leave it alone it starts expanding.
You realise that there is no way for you to win so just let it expand until your neck explodes.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You stand there silently. After a while you hear a faint sigh. It sounds disappointed.
Then the voice comes again. It tells you to leave it alone, and commands you to leave the bathroom and never enter here again. You open the door and you realise that this building is truly haunted because the door does not lead to the hallway anymore, but to a ruined stair case.
[[What?->Ruined Stairs]]You break the glass, cutting up your knuckles. Jumping through, you cut up your back and shoulders as well. You barely notice the pain due to the adrenaline pumping through you.
Landing back in the smoking room its completely dark. You carefully listen and try and make your eyes adapt to the darkness as you can't remember where to go. You wait a few seconds.
That's when you then feel sharp nails being stuck in your back, paralyzing you with pain. Feeling three hands crawling around on you; they travel from your back and shoulders to your neck when one grabs it. The two others continue. One stops at the bottom of your chin, the other one continues this time slowly, all the way up to your hair grabbing it thightly keeping control of your every movements. And with a sudden twisted movement your neck breaks.
[[You´re dead. If only you'd noticed the CLUES in the fireplace...->Dead]]Climbing up the chimney as fast as you can you start to feel the heat of the fire that just previously had been extinguished.
The sweat starting to drip all over you your hands makes them slippery against the black ashy walls. You lose your hold. Your feet not being able to grip tight, you slip. Falling. As if in slow motion. You can already feel the bottom of what now seems like a pit.
Your head smashes on a metal spike that pierced through your head.
[[You´re dead.->Dead]] You stand still. Not moving. Not breathing. Not making any noise.
It's all dark, you think, there's no way this thing - whatever it is approaching - could see me.
But then you feel two hands grabbing your feet, holding them firmly in place with a force of cages made out of steel. Two others grab your neck. Slowly suffocating you. As you lose consciousness, you see them. Two burning yellow and red eyes staring right into yours. Before you drift off easily.
[[You´re dead->Dead]]. You quickly throw yourself underneath the skin trying to distract yourself and not thinking about what it´s made out of.
You wait for what seems to be an eternity before finally finding the courage to peak out your head. When suddenly //something// drags you by your hair out of your hiding place. Pulling you on the floor behind it all the way to what you recognise to be the kitchen, and further. Where you get attached.
It´s quiet again. You hear no footsteps, no breathing, nothing to signal anyone or anything would be alive. That's when you feel something cutting softly into your thin upper part of the skin on your leg. Then you feel a pull and scream in agony. Feeling one by one piece of your skin being ripped off you and your bare body being exposed to the oxygen you lose blood.
You barely last both your legs before you pass out from pain and blood loss.
[[You´re dead. If only you had noticed the CLUES in the fireplace... ->Dead]]You take the skin in a rush and throw it over your shoulder. Climbing up the chimney as fast as you can you´re starting to feel the heat of the fire that just previously had been extinguished.
The sweat starting to drip all over you, your hands become slippery against the black ashy walls. Having taken the skin you use it as a towel to make your hands stick. Feeling your feet starting to slip you do the same and after having climbed the 3 meters up and slipped a couple of times, you see a small opening in the wall. Probably on the level of the first floor.
Squeezing yourself through, you barely fit. Exhausted you lay on the floor, but stand up quickly, you have to find a way out.
[[You've gone higher. Not the most obvious point for an exit.->First Floor Entry]]You break the glass. Now your hands are covered in blood. Picking out, piece by piece, the glass from the door you see during a shimmer of light a blood-soaked monster reflected in a shard. Not sure if it was you or not, you stand your ground. Holding the glass as a fatal weapon. A murder object. You await whatever is here. That’s when something takes your hand and hits it into your face. Now you’re absolutely completely blind, blinder then a mole underground. And your own hand hits you again, in the throat. You feel the glass pierce through your vulnerable skin.
[[You have died. If only you’d noticed the CLUES in the fireplace.->Dead]]You climb up to those peculiar metal bars that were hanging from the ceiling. You have to scrabble at the walls, making an awful noise, but finally grasp hold of one of the bars and pull yourself up.
Laying on your back, squeezed between the bars and the ceiling, something starts to pull your head and feet over the edges and around the bars. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, you think.
You feel the muscles in your body stretch and one by one rip apart and bones crack. The pain is excrutiating. You are left to rot.
[[You will die. If only you had noticed the CLUES in the fireplace... ->Dead]]You look around the room you've found yourself in, exhausted from your exertions. You've made it to the first floor and what looks like some kind of sitting room.
It’s dark and dusty, with flickering lights and spiderwebs all over the place.
It’s also cold... so cold.
You can’t stop shivering, no matter how hard you try. There’s a couch in the middle of the room, facing the old, malfunctioning box TV. You feel the urge to sit down.
[[Sit down->Sitting room sit]]
[[Look around more->Sitting room look]]You enter through the swing doors cautiously. The room beyond seems to be a pantry of some kind: the constant room temperature and the ominous smell of moldy biscuits and aged coffee quickly heightens the intense discomfort the kitchen gave you and your poor impression of the manor.
There is a door at the end of the room, aged and made of concrete and wood. Multiple aisles with a wide variety of what used to be edible foodand a spice rack holding a worldwide variety of spices can be seen. Another metal door with the label ‘‘Freezer’’ appears behind the third aisle on the left. You peek inside and see fish, lamb, chicken and other livestock and game hanging from the ceiling. Milk products, eggs, drinks and organic edibles are scattered across the room. There is a mysterious humanoid shaped bag hanging in between the various types of ham.
The other room seems to be difficult to open. Peeping through the keyhole shows the abundance of utensils used to harvest meat from cows and pigs; blood is also held in bags and a table is in the middle with a creature lying lifeless on top. The pantry itself appear safe to explore, although the food is not.
You can either decide to:
[[Enter the freezer to check on the mysterious bag->Cold storage]]
[[Enter what seems to be a slaughter room->Slaughter Room]]
[[Or return to the kitchen.->Kitchen]]You have your hand on the handle, it has been a minutes since you tried to open the door. Totally ignoring the slanted caution sign beside the door, you gather your energy for another pull. *Clang* Still, nothing happens. You are slowly losing your patience to open this door. As time passes, you kick the door wanting to move on, but this time, the door opens. It was never a door to pull. How pathetic. You feel your face burn up in embarrassment but it is soon washed away by the chills that smack you from the storage room, making you feel every goosebump on your arms and legs. You walk directly towards the black bag you saw earlier without any hesitation, with the door behind you automatically closing again. The black bag with a human-like figure was the main purpose of exploring this room; if it were not for your curiosity, you would not even be bothered to check this room.
Stopping besides it, you reach out with your hand and poke the bag hanging from the ceiling. It had a disgusting texture as if you were touching raw meat: jiggly, cold, and a bit stiff. You back off, regretting your choice, but before you could start walking away, a dark figure crashes onto you, pushing you down on to the ice-cold floor.
You come back to your senses after some seconds trying to figure out what just happened: there must have been something that fell on you. You drag yourself free from the pressure and find the black bag lying on the floor. How did that thing fall from the ceiling? I barely touched it! You thought while slowly backing away.
You stand up running to the door with your hands shaking; you have had enough of this room. That is when you heard it, the crinkling sound that plastic bags make. You turn around to see the black bag on the ground moving, struggling to be more exact, as if whatever is inside it is trying to break free from the bag.
You look at it in horror, you know at that moment you should be getting out of that place, but your body seems to have frozen. You watch the bag as the thing inside it slices a huge opening on the bag, then slowly crawling out. It was then you could see what it was, or what it could be as it was covered in blood, cuts and some sort of slime. It seemed like a corpse covered in big and small maggots holding a rusty knife. The corpse has rotted to a point where you can’t identify their facial features; all there is left is a slimy surface with maggots crawling out and in from what seems to be its nose. You *blech* in disgust, wanting to throw up, but you are petrified as it slowly turns and staggers towards you.
Before you even realize, the thing has already arrived in front of you and a knife stabs down into your chest. You slowly slide down to the floor feeling the knife in you and the blood running down your body. You could also feel the tiny maggots starting to crawl onto you, on your legs, arms and slowly onto your face and into your nose and ears.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You enter the horrifying room, the stench of dried blood and rotten corpses gives you a sickening feeling in the stomach.
The creature on the centre table appears to be a beheaded cow, with several cleavers and other butcher utensils scattered across the rotten corpse. Bloody hooks are everywhere on the walls, some holding animal carcasses, one with a cow's head. Chainsaws, bodybags and racks with more tools are located on the right side of the room. The throat of the cow on the table is exposed and a note is seen next to the opening being held up with a long slice knife.
The stained blood reads ‘‘Dare ya.’’
Do you:
[[Try not to throw up, and run back to the dining hall, away from all the blood and guts?->Dining Hall]]
[[Or, still trying not to throw up, take the dare from the note and reach into the cow's throat?->Cow throat]]You try and push through the door, but it is stuck in place. Even as you shove against it you can feel the cold from beyond the door. Indeed, you have to take your hands away after a moment and blow on them, the door itself is so chill. The gap is not large enough for you to squeeze through.
[[There's no way through here. Best try the other room.->Pantry]]You have decided to reach into the throat. You nutter.
Struggling to fit your hand inside, the infested meat shows bugs crawling out and around your hand. You stretch further, elbow deep - you can feel a solid object: you grab it and pull it out. It's a message in a bottle, the note is nothing but a tease. An obscure drawing of an unidentifiable symbol with random letters written on it.
You stretch in even further, reaching shoulder depth. This is another object. You drag it out and it is revealed to be a key with another symbol on it. It looks like some sort of hanging cloth - maybe a rug? A sheepskin rug with the wool side turned away...
The key itself looks useless. The end of the key has been snapped off, so that it just comes to a sharp point. As you peer closer you notice a word scrawled along the length of the key: 'CAPITALS'.
Obscure clues. Super useful.
[[There's nothing else here, so you head back to the dining room.->Dining Hall]]You look around for something to write your answer in the book, but there's nothing. You speak the words, hesitantly, instead.
For a long drawn out moment, nothing happens. Then...
Nothing continues to happen.
The last light drains from the room, and you're left in darkness.
You drop the garnet-coloured book to the floor, and it makes an extremely loud thud! Stumbling along the bookshelves you cling onto a table to try and balance yourself. Your knees continue to knock against each other. Your vision now is extremely blurry, and you feel buckets of sweat being poured over you. Your breathing turns heavy and you suddenly notice the shadowy figure again, but this time, the figure is inside the room! You whimper at the sudden sight of it and start to sob silently.
You attempt to run away in the labyrinth of bookshelves and try to topple over one of the bookshelves onto the shadowy figure. You then remember that you have no physical strength.
The shadowy figure growls aggressively as it nears you.
“Please, please, I have children. I know I look young, but I really do!” You attempt to bait the figure but then remember that you are a terrible liar.
You have now further angered the figure due to your underestimating of its intellect and you now see it widen its arms and soon you feel a sharp slit in your neck. You fall to the ground and colour the floor with your blood.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You look around for something to write your answer in the book, but there's nothing. You speak the words, hesitantly, instead.
For a long drawn out moment, nothing happens. Then...
Nothing continues to happen.
The last light drains from the room, and you're left in the dark.
You are now in a room filled with darkness and can barely make out what is 2 feet in front of you. You find yourself in pin-drop silence.
Suddenly, you hear a loud screech. You hear more mechanical shifts and soon enough, it feels as if the entire room is coming alive. You crouch down to the floor and bury your head within your knees in fear of what is happening. Books are falling from shelves and several of them fall increasingly close to your body, and then, it stops.
A flickering candle lights itself and other wicks follows suit. The bookshelves have moved to reveal a hidden staircase leading to the basement of the mansion!
[[I eat puzzles for breakfast! That’s why I’m so thin! Onwards!->Basement start]]
[[Hang on. Why would I want to go down? The way out must be elsewhere. I'll go back to the entry hall.->Ground Floor Start]]The dark surrounds you, as you take a step towards the hatch. You can just make out the start of a narrow staircase. The absence of light gives you claustrophobia, the limit of the stairs is unknown.
What is down there?
You can feel he wind as you stand at the top of the stairs. The cold rotten feeling shakes your entire body. The wood under your feet crumbles piece by piece. Your heart starts to beat faster and faster, as you realise that you are in a horror story. The stairs seemed to be endless - likewise there is no end to this horror you are experiencing.
The absence of sound gives you chills down the spine. What is waiting for you, more horror? Your eyes are blocked from seeing, now you only relay on your instincts.
Suddenly the stair starts to shake back and forth, back and forth.
[[You flee down the stairs, into the black of the basement.->Underground corridor]]
You find yourself in a long, stone lined corridor. The stone bricks appear black with soot and a hellish warm feeling pervades the air. Dark red brick flooring shares the same heat.
You walk carefully for a while and come to a pedestal holding a pot at the centre of what appears to be a 4-way intersection. All doors appear to be the same. However, one door has scorch marks and splinters on the ground; one has wine stains and the
third has music playing faintly.
Looking closely, you see the pot has a weird, brown sand like substance on the bottom. Small cyan figurines screaming silently are etched round the rim of the pot.
You can decide whether to:
[[Put your hand in the mysterious soil->Laundry clue]]
[[Enter the wine door->Wine cellar]]
[[Enter the coal door->Coal cellar]]
[[Try the music door->Ballroom]]
[[Run back to the ground floor as fast as you can. Rule #1: Cardio is your friend.->Ground Floor Start]]You enter a wine cellar. It is a rather basic wine cellar, not too extravagant, but it still serves its purpose.
You notice that the wine bottles are all neatly placed in cupboards. You look around, slowly inspecting the room, in hopes of finding a trap that you could avoid or that could help you get out. You slowly start walking towards the barrels. You see that they have been untouched for a very long time: you cautiously touch the barrels, but they are full of dust.
You tell yourself that no one has been in this room and you feel relieved. As you lightly shrug, you find a chair and decide to sit down. As you pull the chair and sit down, you decide to relax your entire body, and then just look up at the ceiling. As you look up at the ceiling, you feel that your mouth is dry, and you wish you to drink. Your thoughts are slow, sluggish, like someone else is thinking for you.
You rise up and slowly scan through the wine bottles, you read many different brand names, Changyu, Robert Mondavi and Hardys. You stumble across a name that intrigues you, Sanguinis Virginis. Out of all the wine you have looked at, this one’s colour is a deep blood red, like rubies.
You don’t really know much about wine, so you tell yourself ‘The redder the wine, the better it is’.
You agree with yourself.
You see a corkscrew lying on the desk; you proceed to place the auger in the wine cap and open it. You don’t find any glasses and you just decide to drink the wine straight from the bottle. You take a big gulp and drink it the wine. The wine has a very strong iron taste to it, and it is very thick. The smell reminds you of whenever you would get a huge scab after falling down from your bike.
You smell the wine again and realise that you didn’t drink wine, instead you drank authentic blood.
You try to spit it out, but quickly give up, because the blood is already inside of you. You stand in shock. You let go off the wine bottle, and the bottle falls down to the ground, and breaks. You fell a little bit dizzy and before you know it you, fall down to the ground.
…
You wake up, everything is dark, coal dark to be specific. Your eyes are not yet fully adjusted to the dark, so you start wavering your hands to make out the room.
You don’t feel anything, so you quickly try to stand up. You realise that now your eyes are slowly adjusting to the dark, and you can faintly see what is in the room. As you take a step you realise that the floor is flooded with something wet, you try sniffing the air and realise that the aroma is that of wine. Suddenly, the lamps start flashing their light. You feel pain in your eyes. You close your eyes, and quickly open it again. As the lights are flickering, you notice that every time the light is turned on you see a silhouette of a person. Average height, wearing a cloak over their head, and body pointed towards you.
All of a sudden, the lights stop flickering. You are completely petrified and as you look around the room you feel a somebody else’s presence. Their presence is slowly getting stronger and stronger each second. Then, again, the bulbs start shining and they are shining brighter than ever before. They keep on shining brighter and brighter. As the bulbs are shining brighter than ever before, you can see the silhouette roughly 2 metres in front of you.
The bulbs are shining really bright now, and suddenly the bulbs burst. The silhouette runs towards you and grabs your neck, leans into you and whispers into your ear, (text-style:"bold","italic","shadow","rumble")[“Do you know where they are?”]. The silhouette talks with a very soaring voice, almost cracking it is so high-pitched.
You answer:
[[Yes.->Wine yes]]
[[No.->Wine no]]
[[Get away! Argh! Help me! Save me! Someone!->Help]]You find yourself in a coal cellar. An empty coal cellar. There are piles of black dust where coal used to be, and a big trapdoor in the ceiling that must lead outside. Sadly it's too high to reach.
Otherwise the room is very uninteresting. It's almost like the no-one bothered to send the description.
[[There is one other door in the room. You go through it.->Swimming Pool]]The next thing your eyes see baffles you completely. You are in a massive hall with columns travelling sky-high and what once must have been polished, gleaming tiles. Chandeliers are hanging in several spots with an old grand piano, inviting you to play it, in the middle of the room.
There is only one other exit, right on the other side of the hall. You stick cautiously to the walls as you make your way there, but when you grab the handle of the massive door, it’s locked. You glance around. The piano.
You slowly begin to step towards the piano with your footsteps echoing through the room and start to wonder why this room existed in the first place. Why would someone have a ballroom in a basement with no windows? Lifting your fingers, you gently place them onto the keys and start playing a short melody, the notes filling the soulless hall.
Suddenly, you felt and heard a light breeze near your neck across your shoulders. There are no windows, where did this breeze come from?! You immediately turn to check where the breeze was coming from. To no avail, you find nothing.
Sighing, you turn back to the piano and thump! You fall on your back after seeing a pale young boy sitting on the piano stool. He is half-transparent and has a gloomy expression lightly resting on his face. His hair is stringing along his forehead, his lips forming a frown and his eyebrows are furrowed. His clothes are oddly well-kept, as his black suit shows no signs of creases. His hand is resting a centimetre away from the keys, suggesting that something is stopping him from playing.
His expression shifts to one of anger and you start to scurry backwards. You are afraid that he was just like the other monsters and creatures you met previously. What would he do this time? Rip out your tongue and feed it to you? Chase you around with a knife? Cut off all your fingers? Pull out your intestines and choke you with them?
“Wh-who are you?” you manage to whisper to him, wondering what his intentions are.
He remains quiet and continues to stare at the piano in front of him. You get up on your knees and as you dust off your pants, you find him swiftly standing in front of you now. You have no idea what to ask him, or even say to him. Are you hallucinating? Is this actually real? How long have you been in this mansion? You look down as you feel your head pounding once again. Every now and then you can hear this high-pitched beep-beep, as if you were in a hospital room. Then, the sound simply stops.
You look up and see the boy offering you his hand. Oh no, would he actually cut off your fingers? His face has shifted into a subtle pleading look, as if he would disappear the moment you would reject him. The room is extremely quiet and all you can hear is your own breath. His footsteps seem to emit no noise. You cautiously give him your hand and you feel a soft, smooth skin. Whoever this hand belonged to seemed to be alive.
A moment later, you find yourself in a dancing stance with him. You can not remember anything that led up to this moment. Alarmed, and accompanied by absolutely no music playing, he begins to lead you into dancing around the room.
The movements are smooth, long and flowing, with him skilfully manoeuvring you through the choreographed sequences. He is much too close to you, making you uncomfortable and wanting to leave his grasp, but you find your palms stuck with his, as if there is an invisible layer of glue.
The dance starts to speed-up, more fast-paced, and you notice out of place strands of your hair in front of your eyes. You feel yourself losing control of your body, with what seemed to be endless spins steering you. You start to panic and look around to find anything that could get you out of this situation. You are stuck!
As you continue to dance, the colours of the halls seem to darken, with the wallpaper wilting downwards. You gulp and start to tear up, wishing for him to stop dancing.
You look back on the boy’s face and he now has a much more relaxed expression. You close your eyes and wonder how you should proceed. There was no way of escaping, but could you fight him? You take another look at him. He seemed lanky at first, but suddenly he seems more well-built and you find yourself having second thoughts about fighting him. You decide to stop resisting. Instead of countering his grasp, you confidently cooperate along with the dance, delivering an assertive expression to him.
He seems pleased, and after you finish the sequence, he bows to you with a light smile and after feeling another close breeze, he disappears, with a key in the place of where he previously stood. You fall down to your knees and catch your breath. You look down at your faint reflection on the tiles and continue to breathe heavily. You feel extremely sweaty now as there was no wind cooling you down anymore. You check around the room to make sure he is really gone. Sure enough, he has vanished.
You run towards the golden-coloured key and pick it up with your trembling hands before turning towards the end of the hall. The key felt oddly warm and reassuring in your palms. You breathe a sigh of relief at the one sign of positivity and hold it closely to your chest. Carefully sprinting through the tiles as to not slip, you arrive at the end section with the door facing you. You look down at the key. What if it was actually a key meant to lure you into a trap?
[[Well, you have to try.->Swimming Pool]]
[[No, you don’t. Back to the intersection.->Underground corridor]]Why would you do this? Can't you spot an obvious trap when it's super super obvious? You're the kind of person who'd see a sign saying: "Do not press this button: It will absolutely kill you" and start smashing the button as fast as you can, aren't you? You're the type of person who plays with matches in a petrol station!
Or maybe not.
You gingerly place your hand on the soil in the bottom of the pot. It's only when your fingers have sunk in a little way that you realise that it isn't soil at all - it's sh... um, excrement.
You recoil, suddenly smelling the stench of it, but as you do it is as though something has grabbed your hand from inside the pot. You are yanked downwards, your hand, then arm disappearing into the not-soil, far deeper than the pot actually goes.
You start to struggle, start to scream, but just as fast as you were grabbed you are let go. You tumble backwards, landing on your rear.
Your whole arm is covered in the not-soil. The smell is atrocious. It's ground into your clothes. You wish you could wash them.
Still, at least you're still alive. And smelly. Where to now?
[[Enter the wine door->Wine cellar]]
[[Enter the coal door->Coal cellar]]
[[Try the music door->Ballroom]]
[[Run back to the ground floor as fast as you can. Rule #1: Cardio is your friend.->Ground Floor Start]]Silently, the silhouette opens the door and leads you to a torture chamber. As you enter the silhouette tells you to find them or else it will kill you before this house does. You feel shivers along your spine.
[[Wait, a torture chamber?->Torture Chamber]]The silhouette grabs your neck tighter and tells you (text-style:"bold","italic","shadow","rumble")[“Then what are you doing in this house!” ]You feel so powerless. You don’t answer, you can’t see the silhouette's face but you know it is angry. The silhouette starts squeezing your neck, it continues squeezing until you die.
[[You have died.->Dead]]Ah yes, because calling for help always works so well.
[[You have died.->Dead]]The perfect room for you. You feel like you are being tutored; tutored by the memories from high school. Your nerves are intense as you can smell the last person being tortured. Luckily you are not being dragged apart, tied up and your bones slowly stretched, and the flesh ripped apart. You find this machine interesting, as you let your fingers slide over the Rack. The blood is the evidence of genuine torture and a brutal death.
This room give you self-esteem as you have been studying different ways of torture. You know this room; you know how the different torture machine works.
Before you get to study all the machines, you no longer feel confident. You no longer want to be here; you want to get away...
This room is not only about the machines, but also about the lost souls. You take a moment to reflect what you just saw, the blood on the Rack is gone. What? How? You keep on asking as a curious child. You start to second guess yourself; the blood is gone. The blood was there, and it was a lot of it. But now it is completely gone, no sign of torture.
The rack starts to move, you feel an ethereal energy. The ethereal energy feels evil, like it is pushing you toward your own death. You feel like you are gone, you are no longer you as you move closer to the Rack against your will. Your arms rise as the handcuffs at the top of the Rack spring open.
With the last of your will, what should you do?
[[Submit->Dead]]
[[Struggle->Torture to dungeon]]
[[Lunge at the Rack and try to destroy it.->Torture to swimming]]You struggle frantically, throwing yourself from side to side and trying to force your arms downwards. It's no use. Although you stagger a few steps to either side, you are still dragged towards the waiting rack. You can almost feel your spine stretching.
But wait! As you try one last time to escape, your foot sinks a little into the floor. Some kind of button set into the floor! A few seconds after you've trodden on it, there is a grinding noise and a small part of the wall swings open. The force that had hold of you relaxes, and you find yourself windmilling your arms as your try not to fall over.
[[On through the newly revealed doorway.->Dungeon]]Rather than fight against the force dragging you towards the rack - no doubt intending to stretch and torture you like many others before - you lean into it.
Thrusting yourself forward, you lunge at the rack. Whatever force is trying to control you didn't expect that. Your shoulder strikes the side of the torture implement with a crunch, and the whole device shudders and tips over. Whatever strange force was acting on you disappears.
More importantly, a trapdoor was revealed when the rack fell over. It's small: barely large enough for you to fit through. But hidden doors are generally a good thing, right? Even in a torture chamber?
[[Go through the trapdoor.->Swimming Pool]]
[[Look around for another exit.->Torture search]]You walk through the door finding yourself in a large and empty room; however, due to the darkness level in the room, you can barely see your hand when holding it in front of your face.
You scramble into the room while hanging on to the wall, trying to find any switch for the lights. Though during that process, your nose seems to have picked up a scent of chlorine, I’m in a lab? Swimming pool? You ask yourself trying to identify the room you are in.
At some point, your hand comes to contact with something, though it was nothing close to a switch; it was a liquid that seems flesh, still sliding down the wall.
You jump back, terrified by what you just touched, trying to shake the liquid off from your hand. After some time in this mansion, there is nothing you can trust anymore, nor is anything predictable. Suddenly, the lights turn on: your jump created enough sound to start the automatic light, though the light is still weak.
You slowly get used to the lighting in the room and looks around searching for a door or exit. It was a swimming pool, you were right, but the swimming pool looked enormous. My house would fit in there three times! Though the whole room seems abandoned as if no one has set foot in there for decades, the swimming pool looks empty and the walls and floor have cracks in several places with puddles of…. Blood?!
You take some steps away from the wall and the puddles on the floor moving towards the swimming pool, but what was inside the swimming pool horrified you even more.
The swimming pool was filled with bodies; on the shallower parts the water has dried off and the bodies just lay there stacking on top of each other, while for the deeper parts of the swimming pool, the bodies were still floating on top. Bodies that did not have enough space to float seemed to have sunk to the bottom. Some of the bodies had their eyes open but their eyeballs floating beside them. It seemed as if there was a whole massacre in here and the dead were just dumped into the pool.
You fall to the ground, shaking, unable to stand up again, crawling backwards trying to calm yourself down. As you look around the room once more trying to find an exit, your eyes lock onto a small camouflaged door. Still unable to get on your legs, you quickly crawl towards the door in a pace you never imagined you could, desperately wanting to leave this room. However, a loud *thud* from the other side of the door stopped you from crawling closer, your experience with the rooms before tells you to stop going further. What do you do?
[[Ignore your past experience and go further->Laundry room]]
[[Listen to your experience and head back to the 4-way intersection->Underground corridor]]
[[Stay put in the room, and if you feel bored, go explore the pool.->Swimming pool stay]]You look around the torture chamber for some form of exit, but there are no obvious doors except the one you came in from. There are lots of horrific torture devices, that you're sure will haunt your nightmares for years to come, but that seems sort of normal after what you've experienced in Huntsham Manor so far.
As you're wandering around, trying to suppress your vomit reflex, your foot sinks slightly into the floor. Some kind of button set into the floor! A few seconds after you've trodden on it, there is a grinding noise and a small part of the wall swings open. Success!
[[Go through the newly revealed doorway.->Dungeon]]You walk into the room. It is exceptionally bright in comparison to the others. Turning the corner to have a full view of the room: you see flashy red walls. Shiny and looking liquid, as if freshly painted, but the only smell in the room is of blood. Positioned on the walls; on shelfs; on hooks: belts, whips, chains, straps, cuffs, and chockers. All carefully aligned. Made out of metal, made out of leather, made out of soft fabric.
The ceiling is at an incredibly height, with white smooth and soft carvings and a massive crystal chandelier hanging in the middle. A bed is located right in front of you, in the middle of the room, the centre of attention.
At the other side are chains hanging from the roof with leather laces at the end. Looking a little closer at the bed, you notice the scratches on the wood of the bed. And looking even more closely you find them looking rather… aggressive.
You take a few careful steps towards the bed - you feel drawn to it in a way. Looking at the bed and the royal red sheets, beside it on the front wall you see a dragon head statue with a silver ring through its nose. It's a small handle to something, so you pull it.
Suddenly blades pierce through the bed and through the sheets on it. Scared for a second you take a step back and press your back against the wall as the smell of blood starts to rise in the room again. You feel a heavy sensation, moist, humid, as if something is leaning on your shoulder. As if pain itself is there; hurt, suffering, someone in pain is present.
You take your back away from it: already, this paint sticks to you, crisping. Looking at the wall you see part of a circle painted in black, with a triangle like figure on the inside. Your curiosity gets the better of you. Thinking you don't have much to lose and that maybe this could help you out, you pull the nose ring again. You do it again, and again, and again, and again, and again. Until the whole wall is cleared of the red which has turned slightly brown and you now start to expect is blood, smeared all over.
You turn and face it to have a closer look. A big circle with a pentagram is visible now, and a goat head is in the middle of the circle. All random stripes, lines and odd figures bordering against it. One line seems to shine, glowing with an inner light. Even as you watch it the shining line twitches, then moves on the wall! It follows a set pattern - forward, right, back, forward, right, back - until it has moved right outside the pentagram
Then, in a split second, the walls start to move in. All sides are now suddenly approaching you. Pushing you into the middle under the crystal chandelier. All objects in the room just suddenly disappear straight into the wall.
You stand in the middle hoping to get not get crushed while feeling the most helpless you have ever felt. As the walls approach the chandelier falls from right above you. You close your eyes, hoping, praying for the best. The walls haven’t fully squeezed you in yet, and your mind is racing and still finds the time to make you react by taking one step. Which one do you take?
[[A step forwards->Dungeon forward]]
[[Stay where you are ->Dungeon stay]]
[[A step to the right ->Dungeon right]]
[[A step to the left ->Dungeon left]]
[[A step backwards.->Dungeon backwards]]You turn away from the door. Gathering your energy, you stand up again holding onto the wall. You slowly drag yourself to the pool again with your eyes closed, afraid of the sight you will see.
Just before you have calmed yourself down and decided to open your eyes again, you feel something pulling your leg down and the next moment, you find yourself in the water with all the bodies.
Your heart drops and nearly pops out of your chest the moment you fall, but because of the swimming lessons you took before, you knew exactly what to do to get to the surface. As you put out your legs and arms out to swim towards the surface, pushing the corpses away from you path, something touches your foot and soon tangles around your ankle.
You look down to see a disgusting hand gripping around your ankle, the hand has swollen up and the skin has wrinkled up due the long time it has stayed in the water. You try to kick it away the hand frantically, but the hand seems to be glued around your ankle. You are starting to freak out, because at this rate, you will soon be out of breath and you WILL drown. You feel suffocated as if your lungs are going to explode; at your limit, you breathe in. There is no way back, this is my end, you think as the pool water fills your lungs.
You take one more look at the surface memories flashing through your mind before your eyes closes forever.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You walk into this weird smelling room. Different smells mix and are overwhelming; from one side you can feel a strong odour of lavender detergent, from the other side you feel a smell of old wet and green soap.
You walk through the door and you start slowly treading on the cold dirty floor. You look around and you can half-way see a huge washing machine, larger than anything you’ve seen before, some piles of washed clothes and a sink in the corner on the other side of the room. You aren´t able to see more than that because the light in the room is flickering and the little window high up has been covered, but it might not even change anything, because what is the time? At this point time has become non-existent.
Standing in the middle of the room is freezing. There are exactly two piles of clothes, one seems only to have clothing with bright colors and the other one a bit more toned. Very nice actually. From here you can also see a plague mounted on the massive washing machine. It reads: ''“Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the portal through which you must see the world.”''
Suddenly, while standing there and completely forgetting why you are actually here, you hear footsteps. They sound exactly the same as when your mum is on her way to check if you´re doing your homework and you have to escape. This time it can´t be your mom, so what will you do? Will you just wait and see who it is?
You frantically look around trying to find a place to hide or way to escape. There are no other exits beyond the way you came in. The footsteps are getting louder. Closer.
You run to the washing machine and look behind it if there is any space to hide there. You could just squeeze in behind it, but wouldn’t that be the first place anyone would look? Or you could bury yourself in the piles of clothes?

The walls are coming closer and using the chandelier as two stairs you climb up, holding hands and feet against the walls to get up over the top of the moving walls. There is a meter of space between the top of the moving wall and ceiling: you stand on the edge until all walls are still, pushed against each other.
With all of the walls pushed in, you see a small opening that was previously hidden. With a little pit of work you manage to get down and slip through the opening, finding yourself somewhere new.

The footsteps are slightly muffled under the pile of clothes, but you can feel them thudding into the floor, making it vibrate with each step. They come closer. Closer.
Too close.
A huge weight crushes down on the pile of clothes, like a giant stomping on a bug. Sadly, it also crushes you.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You hide yourself in the darker clothes. Squirming your way into the pile your nose is assaulted by a cacophony of unpleasant odours.
The footsteps are slightly muffled under the pile of clothes, but you can feel them thudding into the floor, making it vibrate with each step. They come closer. Closer.
They stop.
You hold your breath, barely daring to breathe.
Then the footsteps retreat. You hear them pound across the floor, and the sound of a door opening and closing. Phew.
You push yourself out of the clothes, snorting to get rid of the smell. You find your eyes drawn to the sign on the washing machine again: “Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the portal through which you must see the world.”
What now?
[[Climb into the washing machine.->Laundry washing]]
[[Return to the swimming pool.->Swimming Pool]]You squeeze yourself into the gap between the massive washing machine and the wall. It’s slightly damp back here and you can see patches of mould on the wall. A huge pipe leads from the back of the washing machine into the wall.
The footsteps are slightly muffled behind the machine, but you can feel them thudding into the floor, making it vibrate with each step. They come closer. Closer.
They stop.
You hold your breath, barely daring to breathe.
Then there is a rumbling roar: a terrible exaltation of sound. Something rams into the washing machine in front of you, and despite the size of the machine it is slammed into the wall.
And into you.
You are reduced to a thin paste. Who knows how long it will be before someone finds your remains? People always forget to clean behind the washing machine.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You frantically paw at the door of the massive washing machine. It’s stiff, but you manage to get it open and leap inside. The drum of the machine is large enough that you can stand in a half crouch. You turn to pull the door shut, but before you can it slams on its own.
That can’t be good.
It’s not. Water starts to emerge from the base of the drum. At first a trickle, then a flood, until it’s up to your knees. Worse, you can feel the drum shuddering. You know what happens when a washing machine fills up.
There’s only one escape. The drainage pipe. You hoist yourself up on the lip of the pipe, feeling years’ worth of slime squelch beneath your hands. It’s a tight fit, but you frantically wriggle your way inside.
You crawl along as fast as you can, hearing the rumble of water behind you as the washing machine fills, then the shuddering vibration as it starts to spin. You are only a few metres down the pipe when the water rushes after you. You can feel it soaking your clothes and pooling around you, but you are acting as a sort of plug, and the pressure builds and builds.
Until it is too much. You are launched along the pipe like a cannon ball, the water roaring behind you. You tumble and spin, losing all sense of direction. The water surrounds you, and your next gasping breath chokes you as you breathe water.
Then it’s over. A sudden light, and you are shot out of the pipe, tumbling a metre or so to the grass-covered ground. You roll away from the stream of water pouring down and shakily climb to your feet.
[[Where the hell are you?->Back Garden Start]]You sit down on the brown, worn out couch. It’s oddly comfortable.
You look in front of you, and see the box TV. It turns on.
(text-style:"italic","outline","buoy")[“H-h-h-h-hello t-t-there!”] Said a voice from the TV. A face appears on the screen. It’s a little girl with long, brown ponytails and a blue dress. (text-style:"italic","outline","buoy")[“W-w-w-we've b-b-been watching y-you”] said the girl creepily, somehow looking you directly in the eyes.
The lights start flickering faster and faster, and you feel a strong, cold wind.
Pages from books start flying around the room, as the doors open and shut, slamming against the walls with a loud bang! You try desperately to get out of the couch, but you’re stuck! It’s as if you’re sinking.
(text-style:"italic","outline","buoy")[“There’s n-n-no escape!”] said the girl, her voice resembling a wet bagpipe more than anything else. You hear ghastly laughter in the background. It was over before you knew it.
You’re on the floor, dying slowly, surrounded by chaos.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You spot a book in the far left corner. You walk over to it. “Tentacles” was written in gold, on the old black cover. Weird. Who would name a book “Tentacles”? Yet, it’s weirdly captivating. What could be in it?
[[Open the book->Sitting room book]]
[[Keep looking around->Sitting look 2]]You open the book, only for eight tentacles to grab you and pull your face into the many pages, suffocating you. Should have seen that one coming
[[You have died.->Dead]]You look at the wall, and discover two doors. One door is dusty, crooked and rotting. The other door looks more polished and clean.
[[Go through the dusty door.->Storage room]]
[[Go through the clean door.->Trophy room]]You walk in, the lights are blinking like some video game. You are scared, your body is shivering on every step you take. You walk into this storage room full of guns and Nazi uniforms.
Your body doesn’t want to move anymore, it just stopped. You are breathing heavily. You can hear metal banging against the floor; they sound like footsteps. Dong… dong… dong... It comes closer and closer and in a blink of an eye, a character from a video game you play called Bonnie appears in front of you.
You remember that Bonnie was a guitarist in the video game: you are still breathing heavily as you notice that Bonnie has a Nazi uniform on before disappearing into the shadows. As you're walking around you find two vents on opposite sides of the room. There is blood on the left vent and there is a guitar by the right vent.
[[Go to the left vent->Storage left]]
[[Go to the right vent->Storage right]]You enter the room very slowly and look around for lights.
SWOOSH!!!!
A HORNED SKULL FLIES TOWARDS YOU!!!
YOU CAN'T DODGE AND IT BARELY MISSES YOU!!!
Both horns go past and hit the door behind you. There are now two big holes in the door.
You fall down from fear and the light turns on, the lights are so bright it feels like you are looking at the sun. When your eyes get used to the light you start to look around.
You realize that there are a lot of animals on the walls and floor.
Which ones do you inspect:
[[Crocodile head->Trophy crocodile]]
[[Oryx head->Trophy oryx]]
[[Bison head->Trophy bison]]As you approach the crocodile head you walk slowly so as to not start any other traps.
Getting close enough to touch it, you stop walking as there is no need.
To not start any traps you only caress the scaly skin of the crocodile's head.
You see its mouth open and there is something inside, interested you try to put your hand in but stop right before. You're not stupid.
Which trophy do you look at now?
[[Oryx head->Trophy oryx]]
[[Bison head->Trophy bison]]
This is the head that almost impaled you. Looking at the horns you see some markings. You don't recognize the markings and forget about them.
This head only has horns and the skull, as everything else has been taken off. The bone seems to be scratched with the same markings from the horns, almost like a pattern.
You see nothing important and choose another trophy to look at.
[[Crocodile head->Trophy crocodile]]
[[Bison head->Trophy bison]]As you approach the bison head you walk slowly so as to not start any other traps.
You get almost close enough to touch the bison..
BUT YOU TRIP!!!
You touch the bison horn and it slides a little, almost like an old lever.
The room starts shaking and dust from the roof falls down. Some heads get really close to falling down and others start to smile.
A door opens on the other side of the room.
All the changes to the room have been reversed and it's now how you entered it.
The door is under a bear head, and two rifles in a cross.
YYou head through the door and find yourself in a short corridor, with doors at either end. One door is open and leads into what looks like a bedroom, the other is closed.
[[Go into the bedroom->Bedroom]]
[[Take the closed door.->Storage room]]
You enter the master bedroom. The master bedroom has walls covered in shadow black, and a king size bed. A fluffy duvet as fluffy as a sheep and a blanket made out of pure silk lie on the bed. It looks so comfy: you can’t resist.
You lay down on the bed: the softness of the duvet is like a dream. Turning around you put the duvet over you. Seeing only a dead sheep, you jump out of the bed holding the duvet and the duvet is dead sheep fur.
You jump out of the bed, shaking, sweating, your palms covered in gross sweat. You step on the floor, which is now covered in human victims, dead flesh on the ground, the smell of rotten eggs, and the smell of sweat mixed with blood.
Hearing glass shattering across the room, you spin. The victims on the floor, the smell of dead flesh, sweat and blood and glass shattering. Something or someone is playing the orgel, the same song used in funerals.
In the master bed now lays a dead soul, a creature, not a human, but something old, older than the house, older than humans. The creature laying on the bed is a mix of a blood thirsty sucker, a creature howling at the moon, and a creature which manipulates magic and time. It has fangs and wolf ears, and skin as white as snow. This creature laying on the bed looks as lifeless as the victims on the floor. Lilies now cover the master bed, the candles lighten, as the orgel is still playing.
Then liquid covers the floor and fills up the floor: it’s not water but red and thick. Blood. Blood is covering the whole room until you fear you will drown in blood. The taste of metallic blood is filling your mouth. You swallow the blood down your throat, choking on the blood that is filing your lungs.
There are three other doors leading out of this room. One to the left has windows and seems to lead to a balcony; the other two are closed.
[[Hurry to the balcony.->Balcony]]
[[Go to the door on the right.->Bathroom 1]]
[[Go to the door ahead.->Classroom]]You push open the door to the balcony.
To your surprise, and weirdly your disappointment, the door swings open and hits the railing, its loose hinges squeaking. You step out into the dark and gloomy night, a light breeze sending chills through your spine, like a million tiny daggers stabbing into your back.
You start walking around the edges of the balcony, thoroughly inspecting every detail of the area. The door sounds like an off-beat drum as it clashes with the wooden reilin on the balcony, sending small pieces of wood flying down into the darkness. You notice the dust on the flower pot in the corner, which had filled about half a foot of the pot. It seems like nobody had been on the balcony in decades, except for the fresh footprints on the ground. They seem to lead to a rope, weakly attached to the railing, leading off the balcony and into the abyss; maybe even outside house grounds.
They seem fairly human-like to you, except for the sharp claws, which had scratched the old, wood floor. There are also a few bloodstains on the oprints, still moist. This would be enough to scare the average person off, but compared to the previous attractions you have experienced in the house, this was nothing.
You turn around a few times, scanning your surroundings; looking for the creature which left the prints. An eerie silence fills the air and not even the crows seem to make any noise. The only thing you can hear is your heartbeat, echoing in the vast emptiness of the house grounds.
Suddenly, you hear footsteps on the roof. The footsteps seem to grow louder and louder, faster and faster. Whatever left the footprints was approaching, and it was coming fast.
Your heart starts racing, as you look around you in panic, looking for a place to hide or get away. As time is running out, you realize you have three options:
[[Go back inside, and use all your strength to keep the door closed.->Balcony inside]]
[[Hide in the corner behind the flowerpot->Balcony flowerpot]].
[[Use the rope and your shirt to take a zipline of faith.->Balcony jump]]Once you open the door it starts creaking and you hear a loud scream coming from inside. You take a quick peek around, but you see nothing.
It's dark but you decide to walk in. The first thing you notice is the strong, terrible smell just rushing through the air, as if something died there: it smells as if there was something rotten or decomposed in there.
Once you walk in you see it is a bathroom, with the shadowy forms of a toilet, sink and bath. There is some light that starts to flicker, somehow the lights turn on. You look around but there are no light sources, no lamps, no candles, nothing.
You then see a broken, cracked mirror hanging above the very broken sink with blood all over it. Suddenly the light flickers once more and you look back to the mirror and you see a ghost in the mirror. You look behind you but there is nothing. This ghost is staring into your soul, not saying anything, just looking right at you. The ghost, the ghost is in the in the human form of a little girl with short little pigtails. Freaked out, you decide to...
[[Ignore the ghost and go back.->Bathroom 1 go back]]
[[Wait and see what happens.->Bathroom 1 ghost]]You find yourself in what seems to be some sort of classroom. There is a chalk board on the wall and half-rotted wooden desks scattered around. It is quite a big room which you would guess was built in the ''1600''’s.
You take a few more steps into the classroom and see some gracious abandoned chairs.
You see ''4'' bookshelves storing about ''14'' old books each.
You walk further into the classroom, and you notice a chair in the middle of the classroom where a skeleton of a teacher sits. You get really disgusted by the sight, and you wonder to yourself why he died in here. You really regret deciding to explore this house, even if you didn't really have a choice. Horribly, you notice that the skeleton of the teacher has a word carved into the bone of his forehead. It reads: "''multiply''".
You look around yourself further: there are ''2'' windows each split up into ''9'' individual smaller pieces.
You look at the walls of the room which were like what you would find in an ancient church. There are two doors to the room, one on either side, and finally what looks like a small staircase leading upstairs. The staircase is blocked by another door.
You hear a creaking noise; you swiftly turn yourself around and notice both doors slamming shut! You run up to one of the doors and heave on it, but it is stuck. No matter how much you tug you can't get it open.
You head over to the staircase door. A padlock fastens a latch keeping it firmly closed. It is one of those number combination padlocks.
Then you hear a footstep behind you. You slowly turn around and scream loudly.
You see ''12'' skeletons standing in front of you. They have dents and nicks as if beaten badly. You see dried blood all over the skeletons. One of them has a jaw which was half ripped off. Some have cracked skulls. They are quickly approaching you, trying to grab you.
You must react quickly, to get out you must guess the code on the padlock.
What do you enter?
[[164142912->Wrong answer 1]]
[[1641->Wrong answer 1]]
[[1559->Wrong answer 1]]
[[19353600->Right answer]]
[[00000001->Wrong answer 1]]You run inside the bedroom and you smash the door behind you, grabbing the door handle and pulling it backwards, pushing off the wall with your feet. You stay like this, building up tension for about half a minute. The footsteps come to an abrupt halt, and almost immediately after, the door handle gets ripped out of the hole, sending you tumbling across the floor of the bedroom.
[[Without even looking to see what might enter the bedroom, you run through the other door.->Bathroom 1]]You push the flowerpot aside and scurry behind it. However, this sends a cloud of ash erupting from the pot, seeping into your lungs, sending you into an uncontrollable spasm and coughing fit. This causes the creature to notice you. As it approaches, you can just barely make out the shape of a distorted humanoid creature, running towards you through the blurriness of the dust. As you continue coughing, a hand with as many holes as swiss cheese grapes your jaw, the claws gnawing your tongue, ripping it open. As the taste of blood fills your mouth, the creature rips your jaw out, and sticks its hand into your head, killing you immediately.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You take your shirt off as quickly as you can, and roll it up into a solid-ish rope. In one rapid movement, you throw it over the rope, grabbing it from either side. You step back, and gain enough momentum to push yourself off the edge of the balcony for the ride of your life. As you gain speed, you can see the creature approach the balcony quickly, but it is too late, and you have already left. Before you can breathe a sigh of relief, the shirt rips in two, sending you plummeting down through the darkness and into the children's play area.
Miraculously, you survive with no harm worse than a sore shoulder. Even the two halves of your shirt flutter to the ground, allowing you to put them on over your T-shirt for warmth.
[[You are back in the garden.->Playground]]You decide to ignore the ghost and just decide to leave: as you walk towards the door you can still feel the ghost glaring at you. You then made it to the door you first came into but it was closed. You try to open it but it’s locked. You then realise you could just break down the door since it was so broken and old, so you start kicking the door but that somehow won’t work, you tied everything.
But then you feel something grab your shoulder tightly. Hesitantly, you look back and see the same ghost staring at you but so much closer, but this time right in front you face. Suddenly this ghost finally says something:
(text-style:"bold","shadow","mirror","blink")[“We are waiting for you, come play!"]
Then the light flickers once more, turning into a shining ball where the ghost was standing. The ball zooms into the far wall, and where it hits a door appears.
[[Go on through.->Children's bedroom]]You wait there and start staring back, after some time you look around this bathroom, you then see a shower with ripped shower curtains, you take a look through the shower curtains and you see a decomposed body. Next to this shower there is a bathtub with another decomposed body in it, above this bathtub there is a broken window and on the outside there is a black cat sitting there, also staring at you. Then you look back to the mirror, the ghost still staring at you, suddenly this ghost finally says something:
(text-style:"bold","italic","shadow","mirror","blink")[“We are waiting for you, come play!”]
Then the light flickers once more, turning into a shining ball where the ghost was standing. The ball zooms into the far wall, and where it hits a door appears.
[[Go on through.->Children's bedroom]]You pull down on the door handle and open the creaky door. It slams shut as soon as you enter. In the far corner is a small red bed with striped bed sheets covered in holes, almost like an animal had been living in it, large springs poking through the holes.
You continue to walk through the room and in front of you, you see a large chest. A chest with a small dolls’ arm hanging out, almost like it's waiting for someone to just slightly nudge it open. Out of the window above the chest moonlight is shining in, casting a shadow directly onto the mirror. Light fills the room, and you decide to open the chest. You hold your breath, expecting the worst, your heart is beating so fast, it feels like it will fall out of your chest. Nothing happens.
The doll falls out of the chest, dropping on the ground but still nothing happens. Rummaging through the chest you see button eyes attached to dolls by a single thread and a few wind-up toys. You lean the lid of the chest against the wall and look around the room for an exit.
The reflection of the mirror shows that a mask of terror has swept across your face as more and more toys fall out of the chest. You take a quick glance back, but nothing is there, the toy chest was exactly how you left it. Slowly, walking closer towards the mirror, you hear a ticking noise. Tick, Tick, Tick. A wind-up toy swept up next to your feet. The slight prickly feeling running along your toes makes you jump. One by one, small dolls stomp their way closer to you, some throwing pieces of human flesh out of the mirror as they jump out. You jump onto the bed, stepping onto the uncomfortable springs but dolls climb up the frame with their arms outstretched and emotionless button eyes which seem like they are staring at you, but you really can’t tell. Their stitched together mouths made of a single piece of string slowly fade away as more light comes through the window. You have two choices:
[[Hide behind the mirror->Children's bedroom mirror]]
[[Try to escape->Children's bedroom escape]]You quickly run behind the mirror, feeling somewhat relieved that you can’t feel the dolls caress your skin. You peek your head out behind the mirror to see if the toys have gone.
The noise had stopped but a silent army came towards you. Dolls, teddy bears and wind-up toys climb up the walls surrounding you. You are trapped. As the room becomes lighter, you begin to see blood stains all over the toys. There is no way of getting out, the dolls have already climbed up to the top of your arms. You pull them off with all your might and run into the mirror. Instead of the crash of breaking glass, you find yourself going through the mirror. You find yourself somewhere else, the toys and dolls left behind.
[[Where are you?->Classroom]]You run to the door which has been bolted up in the corner. You pull so hard you are flung across the room and more toys surround you. The sharp plastic scrapes your skin leaving you with small cuts.
You begin to hear a faint voice telling you “The mirror, The mirror”.
You crawl your way across the floor and behind the mirror you see a door. Before you know it something has grabbed your leg and it's pulling you back - but you keep on crawling through the door into the new room, kicking the door shut behind you and trapping the toys.
[[Where am I?->Classroom]]You crawl into the left vent. Your whole body is shivering as you remember that there was blood on this vent that you are crawling in. There is a way that goes to the left and one that goes to the right.
[[Go left->Storage way out]]
[[Go right.->Storage right]]You crawl into the right vent. You are scared of the fact that Bonnie's guitar was outside of the vent. You have been crawling for a while but suddenly you hear a metal object crawling in the vent as well. You move as fast as possible towards the way you came in. It is too late as you hear Bonnie screaming “Die die die die!” as you get devoured.
[[You have died.->Dead]]
You take the way to the left and you find yourself in a new room. It looks like some sort of dormitory.
[[Look around.->Dormitory]]This is a long, narrow room with bunk beds placed evenly on both walls, stretching the length of the room. The beds are old and rusty. Here and there the mattresses have rotted through and you can see cockroaches scuttling around inside.
Other than this the room is not very interesting. It's almost like someone decided not to send in a description.
[[You head to the end of the room and go through the next door.->Bathroom 1]]You frantically enter the code, clicking the numbered wheels around until you arrive at your chosen combination.
The padlock does not open.
The skeletons arrive before you have a chance for a second attempt. Their bone fingers dig deep into your flesh, tearing chunks away. You scream, and bleed, and scream again as skin and muscle is torn.
Perhaps it is fortunate that you lost consciousness soon after, so weren't aware of the skeletons continuing to tear at you, until nothing but your bones were left.
The next visitor will face 13 skeletons, it seems.
[[You have died.->Dead]]
Multiply all the numbers in the room, like the sign on the teacher's skull said... Argh, you've always been rubbish at doing maths in your head!
You spin the numbered wheels on the padlock, muttering the sum under your breath.
The padlock clicks open!
You wrench the door wide, feeling a bone hand clutching at your shoulder as you do. You throw yourself forward, slamming the door behind you.
Made it.
You pant, waiting for your heart to calm down before starting up the staircase. You've made it to the second floor.
[[You wonder what awaits you now.->Second floor start]]You have just walked up the creepy stairs: and arrived at the second floor. There is a red carpet all along the floor. You immediately smell rust from the black floor and walls. The wood on the floor squeaks when you walk. There are candles on the walls - they flicker from what you think is the wind or could be ghosts flying around following you. You see a painting on the wall, it is in black and white.
You look around and you see 3 doors. The first one you see is a door painted in black and it is at the back of the hallway, the second door is an unpainted wood door. The third door you see is also a black door, but it has what you think is blood on it.
Do you:
[[Take a closer look at the painting->Painting]]
[[Enter the black door->Bathroom]]
[[Enter the door that is made out of wood with no painting->2nd Bedroom]]
[[Enter the black door with blood on it->Nursery]]
You see a tire swing right from the entry: the rope that’s hanging off of it looks old. You hear loud noises as you get closer to the tree. The legend says that the tire swing has been there for decades. Some people even say that if you swing or get close to the swing you can die a horrible death. Apparently, the people that have used the swing either were missing or they found some dead body’s close to the tree.
[[You're curious. Go swing on the tire.->Tire swing death]]
[[No, you're scared to death. Go back the way you came.->Back Garden Start]]
[[A little scared, and cautious - you ignore the tree and tire swing and continue along the path.->Shrine]]You see a big, tall stone wall with green ivy growing on it. It seems as if there is a barbed wire attached between poles on the top of the wall. You see one pole that looks just a little longer than all the other ones. You look down to the ground, measuring the height of the wall. You think you’ll never be able to climb it.
The darkness makes it hard to see. But you glimpse a pile of old worn-out ropes. You get an idea. You could possibly attach the rope to the pole in some way and drag yourself up. You consider climbing it, but you might not make it. But if you do, you’d get out of there.
Your thoughts are interrupted by a screaming loud meow. You’re scared stiff. You’re too scared to turn around, but you still try to look around to find a way to escape.
On the other side of you, you see the path back to the entry. You might as well return?
Do you…
[[Go investigate where and what the meow came from->Cat]]
[[Return to the entry->Back Garden Start]]
[[Attempt climbing the wall->Wall climb]]When you start to get close to the swing you start to hear some children screaming. You get on the swing and the swing automatically starts to swing on its own.
You get scared: you start to get worried. The swing gets higher and higher until you start to see a child’s face up in the tree. The child’s facial expression seems to be mad, the child’s teeth are sharp and it looks like the child wants to kill you.
When the child starts to open their mouth you start hearing a very high pitch noise and you start to experience excruciating pain and you have to cover your ears. While you are covering your ears the child eats you and you are dead.
[[Kaput->Dead]]The path ends in a large concrete platfrom - almost a room, really, as a short wall runs all around the edge. It looks like some sort of shrine. You dread to think what is being worshipped.
You stand in the entrance of the shrine, there is a noticeably large pentagram on the concrete floor. You step on the large platform and feel negative energy from the shrine radiating through your body.
When you take a step closer to the center of the room, to your sides you see two levers; further ahead towards the top corners of the room you see two gargoyle statues.
There is also a button on the wall.
What should you do?
[[Flip one of the levers->Shrine levers]]
[[Check out the statues->Shrine statues]]
[[Use the button on the wall->Shrine button]]
[[Get out of there as quickly as possible and continue on. Pentagrams? No thank you.->Graveyard]]You have an option between two levers, one on the right, and one on the left.
[[Left->Shrine left]]
[[Right->Shrine right]]You pull the lever and start to feel uneasy, then suddenly you are transported to a non-euclidean dimension that overwhelms your brain with physics defying illusions that become reality.
You die of motion sickness, but your conciousness cannot escape. You live and die for what seems a thousand lifetimes before something snaps, and you find yourself back at the shrine, holding a broken lever.
Broken like you think your mind might be.
[[Flip one of the levers->Shrine levers]]
[[Check out the statues->Shrine statues]]
[[Use the button on the wall->Shrine button]]
[[Get out of there as quickly as possible and continue on. Pentagrams? No thank you.->Graveyard]]You flip the lever on your right, suddenly you feel some shaking in the room; then, the floor breaks beneath you, causing you to fall to your death and end up in hell.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You approach one of the statues, and look at it in the eyes. The eyes go from a gray granite texture, to soft yet mean red eyes; the gargoyle has come to life, and is looking straight at you.
The gargoyle proceeds to strike due to its awakening.
[[You have died.->Dead]]The button makes a clicking sound. You enjoy it…
[[Flip one of the levers->Shrine levers]]
[[Check out the statues->Shrine statues]]
[[Get out of there as quickly as possible and continue on. Pentagrams? No thank you.->Graveyard]]You enter what seems to be a graveyard. A graveyard in a backgarden. This manor really is the worst. Moss covered tombstones loom out of the ground at crazy angles, like broken teeth.
You feel a wind with a terrible smell. Soon you see a note: you reach out to grab it and when you feel it in your hand you pull your hand slowly toward you. You open the note which, to your surprise, is much bigger than you thought. The note which says “There is one grave with an item which opens a door that leads you to a tunnel which can help you escape or pick the wrong grave which will set loose a monster which can kill you slowly and painfully.” That was everything that the note had to offer. How helpful.
What are you going to do?
[[Dig up a grave on your left->Grave left]].
[[Dig up a grave in front of you.->Grave front]]
[[Dig up a grave to your right.->Grave right]]
[[Not be insane and muck around with gravedigging! You walk cautiously onwards.->Grass]]When you dig up the left one a shadow jumps out and changes form into the scariest doll ever. Then the doll forms a knife out of the shadow and then jumps onto you screaming and laughing loudly. Finally it stabs you in the heart.
[[You are dead…->Dead]]You find a trap door with a lock that you do not have a key to. When you look at the two graves you decide to open the right one. You find a rusty key and when you open the trap door the key disappears into the shadow which is blown with the wind.
[[Go through the trapdoor->Coal cellar]]
[[Nope. Already know what's down there. Continue on in the back garden.->Grass]]When you dig open the right grave there is just a key that looks very rusty.
You keep the key and it opens the middle grave and then you find a trap door which has a lock on which you open with the key and when the lock is open the key turns into shadow smoke and then they are blown away by the wind.
[[Through the trapdoor.->Coal cellar]]
[[Nope. Already know what's down there. Continue on in the back garden.->Grass]]You see a beautiful grass landscape. It looks fresh, green and neat. The grass is so beautiful it seems unreal, it brings you memories. Although the grass is so beautiful something feels wrong about it. Maybe it’s the path full of blood and human bones, or maybe it‘s the trees made of broken glass and growing a weird round fruit which looks like a heart pumping and spreading blood out of it. It just seemed unsafe and suspicious. Or maybe you’re getting paranoid.
There were two paths with different paving stones leading to different directions. One of them was dull and led to a huge painting on a large grey stone. A painting of the Teletubbies, along with musical notes.
The other path was shining bright and led to an unknown place which you couldn’t see.
The shining pathway was smoother and probably easier to go through but led to an unknown place, while the other pathway did lead to a place that you could see but was rough and you would probably fall a lot. Looking closer at the painting, you can see that Po is holding a sign in his hands: “If you touch the grass around the pathways you might regret living”.
What do you do?
[[Walk on the dull pathway ->Grass dull]]
[[Walk on the bright pathway ->Grass shine]]
[[Walk through the grass, I mean it is just grass so… ->Grass 1]]Further away there is a normal black cat that is just sitting and staring blankly at the wall.
You don't see anything stopping him from moving and whatever you say does not make a difference. He looks normal and unhurt.
[[Go closer.->Cat 1]]
[[Return to the wall.->Wall]]With anxious steps you walk towards the old rope. You notice that the rope looks more worn out than you remembered seeing. You pick up the rope and untangle it. You create a loop on the rope and aim for the pole. With a determined swing, you throw the rope towards the pole. You miss. You try again. No luck. When you’ve tried and missed about 5 times, you finally hit.
You tie the rope around your waist and secure it with a knot. You tighten the knot as hard as you can, before you grab the rope tightly and start climbing the wall.
Your palms are burning from the old rope rubbing harshly against your hands. When you're almost entirely up the top of the wall, you feel relieved that you're soon out of there. Your palms are beginning to get sweaty from all the climbing and discomfort.
It's only a short way to the top, but the rope feels strange under your hands. You have a bad feeling about this.
[[Do you continue on? ->Rope climb 2]]
[[Or return to the ground?->Wall]]The rope starts slipping through your hands. You look down, it’s a long way down. You hastily grab onto the top of the wall. Your already sore hands get even more sore and bloody the moment your hands touch the barbed wire. You scream in pain and panic.
Despite the pain, you somehow manage to climb onto your feet on the top of the wall. Your hands are stuck in the spikes from the barbed wire. You try to get it loose, but it doesn’t work. You grunt in excruciating pain. Your hands finally loosen.
You know you won’t be able to hold on to the top of the wall forever. You look down on the other side of the wall. You feel yourself getting dizzy. You see blood from your hands dripping down the walls. It makes you even more dizzy. Before you know it, you totally lose your balance and start tumbling down the wall. The rope tangles up in the barbed wire, and the rope snaps in two.
You hit the ground with a loud thud.
[[You have died.->Dead]]
You come closer and closer until you are so close that you can smell the cat. You slowly move your hand forwards. You gently touch the cat's soft fur, but in an instant it turns around, facing you with its giant black eyes. You note that it has a collar and its name is Riley on it. After noticing his collar, you slowly say its name “Riley”. After the cat heard his name like a command it starts to fast walk in a particular direction, then stops, turns around, and meows.
You follow the cat for a while until it suddenly stops. He presses his body against a tree nearby and a small dark tunnel opens about a meter from the tree. You follow the cat through the dark and creepy tunnel and soon you are outside again. You notice that you are in a different area than before: in the distance you can see a small brown building – too small for a shed, but that’s sort of what it looks like. Or a tiny house.
What do you do:
[[Walk towards the shed.->Dog house]]
[[Go back through the tunnel to the wall.->Wall]]
You slowly start walking towards the tiny house. As you get closer you realise it is a doghouse. You are taking small steps while your arms are completely frozen by your side. You start seeing the red scratched paint on the damaged doghouse. You take your last step right in front of the house when you see a dart scratched object lying in the dark house.
Do you...
[[Go inside the house to pick up the object?->Dog house 1]]
[[Touch the paint?->Dog house paint]]
[[Ignore the dog house and move on?->Grass]]You get down on your hands and knees while looking into the doghouse. You start crawling into the pitch black of the doghouse. It seems like the house is getting bigger and bigger the further you get. You are very close to the thing you saw. You pick it up with your dry hands and look at it surprisingly… It’s a dog toy? You think to yourself.
You turn around to get out, then you see a MONSTER. It has big orange eyes and knife sharp nails. It starts running towards you at a blazing speed.
What do you do?
[[Throw the toy at the monster.->Dog house toy]]
[[Run away as fast as you can.->Dog house run]]All the paint falls off the walls making a scratching sound that is very annoying. You start hearing screams all around you. For some reason the paint and screams are driving you insane!
You clutch at your head. You feel yourself running, but you don't know where; can barely open your eyes. The scratching! The screams!
When the noise finally dies down you breathe a sigh of relief and open your eyes.
[[You're back where you started.->Back Garden Start]]You scream and throw the toy at the monster. The monster stops and picks up the toy. You think it is surprising that throwing the toy actually worked. The monster runs away into the darkness.
You immediately run out of the doghouse as fast as you can.
[[Where next?->Grass]]
You run away from the monster into the nothingness behind you. Running into an enclosed space might not be the best idea when something is chasing you...
You suddenly hit a wall after running for over 2 minutes. You can feel a metal handle on something that's shaped like a door. You pull the handle and a big chunk of the wall opens. You go into the hole and feel dirt by your feet. You suddenly see sunlight and start running. You get out of the hole in shock.
[[You get out of a grave in the graveyard.->Graveyard]]As you step foot on the path, you hear the first bars of the Teletubbies theme song drift through the air. You look around, but can't see any speakers: you have no idea where the music is coming from.
As you're looking around you take the next step on the path. Your foot sinks through the stones, about 10cm deep! Your foot and ankle start to feel warm, like they're starting to burn!
Of course! The theme song! You have to sing the Teletubbies theme song!
How did it go? You can barely remember!
[[Under the hills and far away, Teletubbies eat all day!->Grass wrong]]

[[I am not singing the Teletubbies song. Some things are worse than death.->Grass refuse]]I told you not to touch that grass! Now your dead! But you need to know how you died so, here is what happened:
As soon as you touched the grass, the Teletubbies appeared out of nowhere. You thought that you had finally met your idols, but as soon as they got closer and closer to you, you saw that there was something wrong with them. They are covered in blood; Tinky Winky lost an eye; Dipsey had very sharp shark-teeth; and Lala had shaved his head. The only Teletubby that looked normal is Po.
Unknown to you, he was the one who turned all the other Teletubbies into psychopaths. As they got even closer knives popped out of them and they all started to give you a big hug.
[[They squeezed you so tightly that you died. ->Dead]]You sing the lines of the song, belting out the words at the top of your voice.
How could you have forgotten the Teletubbies theme song?
Instead of sinking into the path, you are suddenly hurled violently to the side. You land on the grass.
As soon as you touched the grass, the Teletubbies appeared out of nowhere. [[They squeezed you so tightly that you died. ->Dead]]You sing the lines of the song, belting out the words at the top of your voice.
Luckily you know the Teletubbies song by heart: how could you not? You love that show a lot.
Your foot rises from the path and you continue walking. You suddenly see a beautiful bunny that is made of gold and has eyes made of diamonds. You have never seen such a beautiful and valuable living creature. It poops chocolate eggs too! Such a valuable bunny. As you are watching it hops off the path into the grass.
What will you do>
[[I will just ignore the bunny, even though it is made of gold it might be a trap.->Grass final]]
[[What!! I am totally following that cute bunny, I don’t care about the rules! They are there to make us not play with that cute bunny.->Grass 1]]
[[I will try to scare that creep away after all I hate chocolate and bunnies.->Grass 2]]
[[I want to kill it!! I want money!!! I need chocolate!!! ->Grass 2]]
Ok. Death it is.
What? Did you think this would somehow work out well?
You continue to sink into the path. The burning sensation grows worse and worse, like you're submerged in acid. You die horribly, but at least you die with your pride intact. That's good, right?
[[You have died.->Dead]]You look around for a rock or stick to throw at the bunny. You see a large stone at the edge of the path that looks perfect.
Careful not to touch the grass, you pick up the stone and hurl it with all your might at the bunny.
Sadly, you throw to hard.
You overbalance and fall forwards into the grass. You don't even see what happened to the bunny.
[[Oh dear.->Grass 1]]Good choice.
You continue walking and walking, the Teletubbies theme song echoing around you. You hum along. Eventually, you see a huge slide that has roses painted on it . You slide on it until you see an extremely beautiful pool.
[[You land near the pool.->Pool]]You arrive at the pool, and almost forget you're in a supposedly haunted house. It's beautiful: the water sparkles; there is luscious green grass; beautiful flowers of all colors and nice bumblebees. Even though you know it's night, it looks like it's day here - even the sun is up.
It’s the most beautiful place you have ever seen, except for the radio next to the pool that is currently playing Nazi propaganda recordings from the forties.
The weird thing is that the radio looks new: clean wood, clean dials and a completely new speaker and text on the top saying PHILCO.
You sit down at the edge of the pool and relax for just a bit.
DO YOU…
[[Go look at the green grass just outside the pool area->Pool grass]]
[[Swim in the pool->Pool swim]]
[[Relax as you listen to the radio ->Pool listen]]

You wander around the pool until you get to the grassy area. It really is beautiful here, despite the horrible stuff coming from the radio.
As you wander you notice a patch of bright red flowers a little way off. The very centre flower is dead, however.

[[Examine the red flowers->Pool red flowers]]You take a swim in the pool. It is just the perfect temperature and everything is perfect. You don’t even mind your wet clothes. The radio is now playing calming music and you swim happily like a fish.
Then you spot something dark and gloomy at the bottom of the pool. You’re not sure what to do.
[[Swim to the bottom of the pool.->Pool door]]
[[Get out of the water.->Pool]]
The radio changes to play nice music from the Edinburgh Philharmonic and you slowly drift asleep. They play extremely calmly with whispering flutes and breathy violins. Your eyes begin to shut and you fall asleep.
You don't wake up: you fell in the pool while you were sleeping and you drown deep in the pool.
[[You have died.->Dead]]
You check and the radio is indeed completely new, although it takes some time because of the shine of the sun reflecting on the radio, even though it's midnight. It is even playing a speech of Churchill proclaiming that "Britain has sunk the U-31 from the air, a proud moment in the ever ensuing battle for Britain'' playing on BBC radio 5. This happened on the day this radio was made, 1940/3/11. So it's clearly playing recent news.
What now?
[[Go look at the green grass just outside the pool area->Pool grass]]
[[Swim in the pool->Pool swim]]
[[Relax as you listen to the radio ->Pool listen]]
[[Smell the flowers->Pool flowers]]You go over to the nicest flower and smell it. It smells nicely of vanilla and you smell it again. As you do you notice a patch of bright red flowers a little way off. The very centre flower is dead, however.
You sniff the flowers again. You become at ease and begin to become numb. You start losing motor ability.
IT WAS POISON! Maybe it was from a Nazi experiment, and it has been recently added? You are confused, maybe this place is stuck in 1940/3/11?
You fight hard to stay alive, but you can barely move. What do you do?
[[Use the last of your energy to crawl back to the pool.->Pool flowers 1]]
[[Try and get back along the path.->Pool flowers 2]]
You swim down to the dark shape at the bottom of the pool. You can only hold your breath for so long, and the pool is deep, so you have to be quick.
As you get closer you see that the shape is a door. A metal door in the bottom of the pool. You wonder how it doesn't rust.
You swim even closer and see that something is engraved on the door, and that there are five buttons with words on where a handle would normally be.
You quickly read the engraving. It's hard to see under the water.(text-style:"outline","sway")[ "The smallest bird can carry it, where the strongest man might struggle."]
There are five buttons. Which do you press?
[[A coconut->Pool wrong]]
[[A baby->Pool wrong]]
[[An egg->Pool wrong]]
[[A tune->Pool right]]
[[Knowledge->Pool wrong]]The crawl is agony. You can barely move your limbs, and each small twitch feels like the worst case of pins and needles ever.
You finally make it to the pool. With a final despairing heave you throw yourself into the water.
The shock of the water is enough to give your body a burst of energy. You haul yourself to the side and clutch at the edge until the numbness passes.
What now?

The crawl is agony. You can barely move your limbs, and each small twitch feels like the worst case of pins and needles ever.
You crawl some way along the path before your body no longer responds. Your eyelids start to droop and you pass out. You never wake up.
[[You have died.->Dead]]
The red flowers look like poppies. Wasn't there something important about poppies and the war?
In the very centre of the patch of poppies is a dead flower. What do you do now?
[[Dig up the dead flower->Pool dig]]
[[Return to the pool->Pool]]You dig the hole, you just sort of felt like there was something about the soil, the smell or something.
You continue digging and find a half rotten body, with bones starting to show. Its clothes are rugged and ruined: you can make out a german cross and a swastika, but not much more. They have a rifle in their arm and they have a small note.
You are not sure what happened and decide to read the note.
It simply says "A TUNE".
Even as you read it, you the radio behind you change to playing birdsong.
[[Return to the pool.->Pool]]
You depress the button. There might have been a click, but it's hard to hear under the water.
You wait for a miment, but nothing happens.
[[With your breath running out, you swim up and return to the pool.->Pool]]You press the button. There might have been a click, but it's hard to hear underwater.
For a moment, nothing happens. Then, just when you think that you can't hold your breath any longer, the door swings open.
Inside is a mirror. You stare at it, shocked, for a moment. You can see your reflection, hair waving as it is caught by the water.
Then you feel a terrible force dragging you downwards. You struggle, try to swim up to the air, but it is no use. You are sucked towards the mirror.
And //''through''// it.
You find yourself somewhere new, as though you'd been remade in a new location. Even your clothes are now dry. Your head swims.
[[Where am I?->First Floor Entry]]You see a painting on the wall beside you, it's hanging there crooked so you go there to take a look at it. It is a portrait of an old woman; it is painted in black and white. The woman is scary, and she stares right in your eyes. She looks at you as if she is judging you. You don't like this painting at all. You decide to put it up straight but a voice from nowhere whispers (text-style:"italic","smear","upside-down")[“Make it sideways and you will get a bonus.”]

(if:(history: where its name contains "Bedroom painting sideways")'s length >= 1)[[[Try and turn it sideways again.->Attic entrance]]]You open the door, and almost immediately the smell of rust hits you in the face. A void fills your vision. Your thoughts become overwhelming. All the questions become louder and louder, where does the smell come from? Did the faucet rust? It's a bathroom, isn't it? You take a step forwards, the ground making a ‘tap’ sound. There's something wet on the ground. You try to find the light switch. After a few more steps, on what feels like water-covered ground, you find it.
Do you:
[[Turn on the light->Bathroom light]]
[[Leave the room->Second floor start]]
[[Continue looking around in the darkness ->Bathroom dark]]You walk into a nursery. There is a crib in the corner and some toys scattered around. You can see the light of the moon coming from the window, the window opens and the light gets more intense in the room. You turn slowly to look more around and suddenly you see eyes shining down from the ceiling.
Do you:
[[Find out what it is.->Nursery death]]
[[Run out of the room.->Second floor start]]
[[Keep looking around in the room->Nursery explore]]
You walk into a bedroom. Inside the bedroom it is really dark. So dark that you can barely see anything. You can only see a white-coloured piece of furniture at the other side of the room. You go forward… You can feel something soft in front of you. It feels like a bed or a couch. While moving around, you step on a cylinder-shaped tool by accident.
Do you...
[[Pick up the cylinder-shaped tool->Bedroom torch]]
[[Check the white coloured furniture->Bedroom fridge dark]].
[[Get out of the room->Second floor start]]
You turn the light on, but the light stays off. It flickers a bit, giving you a small light source. You look around, the flickering annoying your eyes, making your vision unclear. You look down, the floor is covered with fluid. It's thicker than water, that's for sure, but the light is too weak for you to examine exactly what it is.
You take a few steps forward, now close enough to see the sink. Maybe the sink is leaking? Perhaps that's what the fluid is? Yeah! exactly! It must be dirty water. You take a few more steps, inching closer to the sink, every step you take feels harder. Like there's something slowing you down. No, no, stopping you from coming closer. You look around, the tapping becoming louder, and you start to fear what’s unseen.
The lights are flickering faster, your eyes hurting, every breath heavier by the second. It feels more like a gas than air, the smell of rust stronger. You take a few more steps, feeling the chill go down your spine.
You close your eyes, the fear of the unknown growing larger. You feel something brush against your foot. The feeling was light, nearly unnoticeable. You start to think it's just your paranoia talking. Your thoughts become silent.
Then nothing.
Your mind is silent.
Your chest gets heavy.
Your stomach starts to hurt, the feeling unbearable.
Do you:
[[Open your eyes->Eyes open]]
[[Keep them closed ->Eyes closed]]
[[Run for the door->Bathroom run]]You look around, nothing to see, the only light source is the light coming from the key hole from the door. There´s nothing, only the iron smell, and as you take a few steps, you can tell that the floor is wet.
You take a few more steps and then.
There's something in the darkness. It reached you from behind.
You can feel a hand over your mouth and nose. You panic, and start kicking and punching, you try to reach the mysterious person behind you, but it doesn't work. You try biting the hand.
But…
The taste.
Blood.
And rotten flesh.
That's the only thing you feel, it's repulsing. you can't handle it. and the leak of air from the hand covering half of your face. You can´t handle it.
Peace.
Nothingness.
The relief of fear, and pain, and everything.
It´s peaceful.
In a weird, messed up way.
[[You died->Dead]]
You open your eyes, they hurt. The light is still weak, and flickers fast enough to give a headache.
You look around, too scared to look at your feet yet. The sound of something hitting the water echoes around the room. You close your eyes again, fear overpowering your curiosity. Your mind begins to rise again. So many questions, and you want none of them answered.
You know it's bad, it must be bad. You are alone after all.
All alone.
You become lightheaded. You feel something brush against your foot again, this time, it's much more noticeable, the thing soon disappearing. You feel your arms go numb, that's when you realize you were digging your fingernails into your shoulders.
You can feel the blood running down your arms, and damping your shirt. It hurts, it hurts so badly, but the feeling is keeping you sane.
You know you're not dreaming; you know it's real, what's happening, is actually happening.
You close your eyes shut.
You shut your eyes even harder, tears finding their way between your eyelids. The warm fluid making its way down your cheeks. The feeling is comforting, in a strange way. Your breath starts to normalize as you stand there, holding your arms close together. The nails still in place, but with much less force.
Your mind starts to calm down, the tears falling down and making another tap sound, as they hit the fluid covered floors.
You keep reminding yourself that you're alone, and nothing can hurt you.
You are safe.
And everything will be alright.
You open your eyes again, the light hitting your eyes again, the pain is small, but still affects your vision.
Now, much more confidently, your gaze changes to the ground. Just then, you notice that the fluid reaches your ankle. But other than that, you see nothing around.
Nothing moving, nothing poking out. It must have been your imagination; nothing touched your leg. It was the adrenaline kicking in, nothing else.
Or at least that's what you want to believe in.
You switch your gaze to the sink. It's about 5 steps away. Now, confidently, you inch closer. You reach the sink. You take a look around it, there's some toothbrushes on the side, it seems like they've been rooting for a while. You look up and see a mirror cupboard. The mirror is dirty, and rust is building up on the sides.
You look at your reflection, the tears already dry, hair a mess. You run a hand over your face, blood from your fingernails leaving a line on your forehead. Now that you noticed, your shoulders start to hurt. Of course, it's just your fingernails, the wound is nothing more than a scratch, but the pain is still there.
You look down, the sink is full, there's something blocking the drain. The faucet isn't leaking, but the sink is full. Now that you think about it, the sink is big, much bigger than a normal one, it's nothing like yours, or your friends’, it's much bigger. and full of what you believe is water.
Do you:
[[Reach down to unplug it->Bathroom unplug]]
[[Reach for the mirror cupboard->Bathroom mirror cupboard]]
[[Leave->Second floor start]]
You keep your eyes closed as the dim flickering light annoys your sight. You reach your arms in front of you to try and navigate yourself a little. The floor wet with some fluid, making it hard to walk steadily.
You feel something touch your leg, it's over. At least that's what you think. You flinch and try to kick the thing off. You move too much, the floor too slippery, you can’t keep your balance anymore. And just like that, you fall to the ground.
With a big splash of the liquid, you hit the ground, the thing on your leg now moving. You feel paralyzed, helpless. You know there's nothing you can do.
You didn’t even realize when the thing got to your neck. It got a grip on it. You feel the air leaving your body. You start to kick and grab on the thing but it’s hopeless. Your head starts spinning. You start losing the feeling in your fingers, and soon. The leak of oxygen is not a problem anymore. You can’t feel it, it’s over.
Nothing more to feel. It really is over, isn’t it?
[[You died.->Dead]]
The flickering light gave you a headache, a headache you just couldn´t bear.
You turned around and ran right for the door. You reached for the handle, and ran through, not even bothering to close the door behind. Though the door was one step before you as it closed just as you went through, nearly hitting you on the way.
[[Back to the corridor.->Second floor start]]You slowly reach your hand down the sink; the fluid has a weird consistency. You can tell it's not water, that’s for sure. But you're already elbow deep, it's too late to back down. You reach the bottom, and search for the drain. You find something there, something weird, it feels slimy. You squeeze it to try and grab it, It doesn't work. It's way too hard to grab, you’re unable to pull it out.
Do you:
[[Give up->Bathroom lose]]
[[Continue trying to unplug it->Bathroom continue]]
[[Reach for the mirror cupboard->Bathroom mirror cupboard]]
[[Cry->Bathroom lose]]
You stop trying. It feels impossible to grab. So, you pull your arm out. You can feel the fluid drip from your arm and down to the sink. The light is too weak for you to examine the fluid running down your arm. You shake your arm a little, and you wipe your hand on your shirt. The headache becomes stronger, as you try to squeeze your eyes to look around. Your eyes lay on the cupboard again, this time with the intention of opening it. You slowly reach your hand towards the board.
You slowly open the mirror cupboard. You were expecting many things, like old cups, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, the basics, maybe a dead rat. But the sight before you, no. No, you couldn’t have expected that, never in a million years. What you saw makes you sick. Makes you paranoid, and lose your balance.
A head. A human head. Without one eye, rotting, staring with its dead eye right at you.
And just like that, you fall. The sight before you made you lose all your energy, all your balance, and with a splash of the liquid you fell to the ground. You feel lightheaded. Like you can’t keep your eyes open anymore. The fluid is cold, and makes you feel dirty.
The fluid feels like it’s rising, but it can’t be. That's impossible. The sink. You can hear the water running from the tap, and splashing in the full sink. You can hear the water fall, and feel yourself getting soaked wet. And yet, you feel paralyzed. The sight of a cut off, half rotten head buried in your mind. You stay like this, on the ground. Water getting higher and higher.
Now, the water is high enough to trouble your breathing. You are brought back to reality, the mind completely empty.
Then, the shock from the water filling your nose brings you back. The instinct to stay alive kicks in.
Do you:
[[Hide in a cabinet->Bathroom cabinet]]
[[Run out the door->Second floor start]]
HA. You wish that was an option, you coward.
[[Continue trying to unplug it->Bathroom continue]]
[[Reach for the mirror cupboard->Bathroom mirror cupboard]]You continue to try and get a better grip on the mysterious thing in the drain. It’s slippery, and the fluid makes all the matter worse. Something that surprised you, is that the thing was very squishy. You try your best, but the thing moves too much for you to get a grip. As you give it a final attempt, your fingernail digs in.
The feeling makes you sick.
The consistency.
The sound that pierced through the liquid.
The surprise of the action.
It made you sick.
It made you feel guilt you didn't know you had. But there’s no time to reconsider anymore. You pulled your arm out, the thing still stuck to your fingernail as you held it in your hand.
As you were pulling it out, you could recognize the shape to be round. Your hand now fully out of the fluid, you looked at the thing in your hand. The sight before you made you freeze.
Your whole body went numb, mind empty. You started to shake, the object falling out as you shake it with all the force, and all the energy you found in yourself. What you saw was burned before your blurred vision. The pain from the flickering light not bothering you anymore. What you saw was the only thing that was on your mind anymore.
An eyeball.
Human?
Animal?
Who knows.
You wish, you truly wish it´s animal
But your mind is telling you otherwise.
The sight of an eye in your hand, clearly covered in blood, as a matter of fact, your whole arm covered in blood. Your fingernail dought right into the dead iris. Tears started to form in your eyes, your breath hitched. Your mind was raising, and yet you couldn't think of anything.
As tears fall down your face, you feel yourself lose balance. You fall backwards, trying your best to stay up, and yet the gravity is against you.
You step backwards to try and keep yourself standing. But it’s short lived as you hit something.
That something being a bathtub as you fall in with a big splash, as you fall in a full bathtub.
Your whole body falls under the liquid. The shock you go through makes you open your eyes, gasping for air. Paralyzing pain overpowering your body, as you hit your back on the side of the bathtub, the fluid fills your mouth as you gasp for air. Your eyes burn from the contact with the fluid.
You quickly realize the liquid appears to be blood by the taste. You sit up as fast as you can, feeling around for anything to grab, anything that could help with the pain. After a few seconds, you reach for something, as you're struggling for air, you reach for the thing and pull it close. It feels dry, but damp at the same time. It's huge and heavy, but you don't care.
You're in unbearable pain, you find the driest part of the thing, which feels like dry fabric, maybe a little stiff, probably old. You scrap your face with it. It smelled horrendous, but it did the job. Your face, still in overwhelming pain, but now you’re able to open your eyes. Your breath is still heavy, the iron-like taste of blood overpowering any other taste in your mouth. Your eyes slowly open to uncover the most horrifying sight you have ever seen.
A rotting body 6 inches before you, you holding the shirt of the what you assume is a murder victim.
The body is missing an arm, and the head. You start feeling sick. Momentarily, you push the body away, you feel like throwing up. The body falls out, at the impact of your push. It’s too much for you.
You quickly stand up, the blood dripping off of you right back to the tub. The flickering light and blood makes you close to blind. You nearly trip on the corpse as you run for the door. The floor makes you sick, every tap of your feet reminds you that it's blood. That there's someone just a few feet away. Missing half of their body, rooting, forgotten.
But there's no time to think about that now. As you reach for the handle, the door opens. Your eyes wide, mouth agape. You see a figure in the door, and the last thing you know, you're mouthing a ‘please’ before sharp pain explodes from your stomach. There's nothing more you can do, you give in to the pain, until there's no pain anymore. Your vision goes black, you no longer hear any taps of the murderer's steps. You no longer feel the blood escaping your body.
You no longer feel anything.
[[You died->Dead]]
You quickly stand up. Water at the height of your waist. Your vision blurry, and headache is as bad as if someone punched you repetitively for at least an hour, but you get to look around. In the rush of the situation, you run as fast as water allows you, towards a tall cabinet.
You try to climb it.
You're close to the top, and then, you feel the cabinet shake. You understand that you are way too heavy. There is no chance for you to stay on it. And just as you're about to climb down. The cabinet falls. Trapping you underneath it. It falls right on your legs, holding them in place underneath the water. You're helpless. The pain making you dizzy, it’s getting harder, and harder to hold your breath. You feel, no, no, you know you will die. You know this is the end. And even though you tried your best to stay alive. The agony you are under makes you let go of your breath. The seconds, the burning seconds where you can feel the water fill your mouth and throat, and then finely, your lungs. Are the worst pain you ever felt. and then nothing. There's nothing more. The sweet relief of nothingness, of pure numbness fills your body.
A strangely calm death visited you quicker than expected.
[[You died->Dead]]
You picked up the cylinder-shaped tool and you see that it reflects light. You can also feel an object sticking out from the cylinder. You press it. You find out that the tool is a flashlight and now you can see everything. You are thinking: “How lucky you are because it had batteries.”
You find out that the soft thing you touched was a king-sized bed and the white furniture is a fridge.
Do you...

[[Head out of the room->Second floor start]]
As you move towards the furniture, it is much easier to see what it exactly is. It looks like a door. You can see the handle. You grab it and drag it. A door opens. Soon, you find out that the furniture is a fridge. The fridge lights up. The fridge contains some drinks and food. The drinks are energy drinks, and the food is a hamburger. They both look relatively fresh
Do you…
[[Eat and drink->Bedroom food]]
[[Continue exploring in darkness->Bedroom explore dark]]
[[Leave the room->Second floor start]].
The food is surprisingly tasty.
And not poisoned. There's a surprise.
Feeling a little more satisfied, you continue exploring.
[[What else is there?->Bedroom painting]]It is really dark. You walk in the room until you can feel a knob. You try turning it left and right, thinking it must be a doorknob, but it doesn’t turn.
You try pushing and pulling instead. Pushing does nothing, but when you pull you fear an agonising sensation in your chest. You look down to see that a sharp blade has sprung out of the wall and impaled you.
[[You have died.->Dead]]
With the room now better lit, you can see there is a painting hanging above the bed. A portrait, but the face of the figure portrayed has been scratched out, leaving torn canvas.
The painting is crooked on the wall.
What do you do?
[[Straighten the painting.->Bedroom painting straight]]
[[Move the painting so that it is hanging sideways.->Bedroom painting sideways]]
[[Leave the room.->Second floor start]]Double-click this passage to edit it.You adjust the painting so that it hangs straight. There, that looks much better.
Doesn't seem like there's much else to do here.
[[Leave the room.->Second floor start]]You adjust the painting, turning it so that it is hanging completely sideways, like the note in the corridor said.
Distantly, you hear a click.
It doesn't look like there's much else to do here.
[[Return to the hallway.->Second floor start]]You get closer to the ceiling and suddenly you see eyes coming towards you at high speed. You suddenly fell on a nail (BAM). You hit the ground hard and you can't move. You are frozen and feel the wind from the window going down your back. You start feeling dizzy and your eyes close down slowly.
[[You have died.->Dead]]You think it was just some reflection of the eyes of the dolls glowing from the moon light and you keep looking around. Suddenly you find a spray that smells like sour milk. You are thinking of picking it up but you aren’t sure.
[[Don’t pick it up->Nursery no spray]]
[[Pick it up->Nursery spray]]
You don't trust the smell at all, so you just walk away and don’t care. (BAM) You walk right on a nail sticking up with the pointy side; you feel your shoe filling up with blood slowly, and the nail stuck in your foot.
You start getting dizzy. You tried so hard so hard to find the way out. You suddenly fall backwards.
Do you:
[[Turn around.->Turn around]]
[[Keel over falling backwards.->Backwards]]
You pick up the spray, giving it a few quick squeezes as you do. A fine vapour mists out into the dark room.
Then, from somewhere in the darkness, a sneeze.
You freeze, your blood running cold. Something is in here.
You don't even think, just turn and run. You slam the door behind you. It might be your ears playing tricks on you, but you think you hear a sad little sigh from the other side of the door.
[[Back to the hallway.->Second floor start]]You fall on a rusty nail right into your eyeball.
[[You have died.->Dead]] You fall on a rusty nail. Right in the back of your head.
[[ You have died.->Dead]]You straighten the painting. There, that looks better. Well, still creepy, and you could swear the old woman in the painting looks disappointed.
[[Go back to the stairs.->Second floor start]]You try and turn the painting sideways, but for some reason it won't turn. You struggle for a while, but then give up. Maybe it's not this painting the voice meant?
[[Back to the stairs.->Second floor start]]You turn the painting sideways, just like you did the one in the bedroom. There is a deep rumble, and the painting, and the wall it was hanging from, start to move into the cieling!
Behind the painting is a dank staircase. Stale air wafts down from what must be the attic.
[[Onwards!->Attic]]You make your way slowly up the stairs. This is the highest point of the the house - if an exit isn't here then you have no idea where it will be.
As you emerge, you'rre both disappointed and amazed. Disappointed as the massive room, covering the whole breadth of the manor, is completely empty. Bare floorboards stretch away on every side, meeting the sloping roof.
Amazed, because at the far end of the hallway is something you have never seen before. A glimmering, glittering rip in the air. It rises from a sadly familiar pentagram - you're sure you've seen something like it in the garden.
You approach the... whatever it is. As you get closer you can see more details. It looks like the air itself has been torn apart, and in the gap you can see... outside! You can see the gates of the manor!
It's a portal. It must be. A portal to get you out of here! You've done! You've found the exit!
[[Step through the portal.->Attic exit]]You step forward into the portal. For a moment, the pain is indescribable. You feel like every part of your body has been ripped apart, like even the atoms of your form are spearating.
But then it passes. Your vision glows, and you find yourself standing in front of the gates to Huntsham Manor! You're free!
(after:5s)[Or not. As you breathe a heartfelt sigh of relief, you turn, and realise that you are in front of the manor gates. Just //''inside''// them.
You haul on the gates, just like you did the first time, but there is no getting through. You scream and call for help, but it is like your voice is stopped by the gates as well.
You haven't escaped. You're just back at the start.
There is no escape.]
